Anyone who dares to make predictions of group winners and runner ups? :smile: Finalists :razz:?

Blah Blah Blah

Saudia Arabia…will NOT win the cup :tongue:

I dunno who i’m voting for this time…i will not be rooting for Brazil because it gets a bit boring as Brazil is just too good.

I do hope one of these teams will win :

Spain , Italy, Holland or France.

(I wont predict though :tongue:)

I just hope it won’t be HORRIBLY RIGGED like the one in Korea and Japan.

I never heard about any rigging…could you please explain TooGoodToBeTrue ?

The one in Korea and Japan was not rigged… South-Korea had the crowd supporting them, and that’s why they made it to the semi-finals.

By the way, I’m watching Brasil - New Zealand now, 2 - 0 for Brasil after 62 minutes of play… I actually expected a 5 - 0 for Brasil by now :razz:

Well, Brasil are favorites for winning the Cup anyway…

The candidate to be something I don’t remember in Korea promised that the Korean team would at least get to the quarters of finals. And so it has been. Exactly like he said. But you could see it was rigged from 10km away. The match against Italy has been the peak of the whole thing, the referee that ruined the game has also been expelled by the football organization, besides becoming a negative legend. After Korea got where it was supposed to get, it got eliminated. That seems so weird to me.

You guys are wicked big soccer fans huh?!

Is it true what I’m hearing in the news about their fears of possible terrorist attacks or threats of such? I hope not. Soccer games, especially something so awesome like this, are always great to watch.

Germany will be awfully dangerous cause they are in their own country and they always play very well during World Cups. And Brazil has one of the best teams they ever had and a great coach too. They should meet in final, like in the last World Cup.

I think there could be a lot of surprises, especially in Group A with Costa Rica, Group C with Cote d’Ivoire, Group E with USA and group B with… Trinidad and Tobago, cause they are very motivated! :happy: Switzerland is in a great form too. The teams levels have become more equal since the 2 last World Cups so that it will be very open!

As a pronostic, I would say the semi-finals will be: Germany vs. Italy and England vs. Brazil.

Alright, I’m not a soccer fan but I am a sports fan. And watching any ‘World’ competition is fun not to mention the passion with which these guys play with.

If someone could explain so that I can somewhat follow your comments I’d be greatful.

How many teams are there now competing? Or is it all teams and and losers are eliminated until there are two teams left?

And Basilus, I totally agree with what you’re saying as far as Germany being dangerous in this series. Anyone playing at home, has home court advantage… plus the fans do something magical with raising team spirits.

My brothers grandparents are from Trinidad & Tobago, even though me and him are both white, which is pretty cool. Anyways, they’re pretty psyched about it.

In this World Cup, I expect Germany to do well, as well as England. I don’t like Brazil, they’re too good. Perhaps they’re extreme goodness will work against themselves. Its always a possibilty.

I’m supporting Holland this year. :cool: I’m serious. I don’t like the effect Brazil winning would have to the presidential elections.

The 32 teams which managed to qualify for the World Cup are splitted into 8 groups. You can see the groups in Fadem’s first post. By the way, there is an error in the first post cause group F is Brazil, Croatia, Australia, Japan. :tongue: Could you correct it, Fadem? Inside of each group, every team meet each other and the two best teams are qualified.

For instance, USA will play against in group E Italy and Czech republic which are two very very strong teams. But I wouldn’t be surprised too much that they create a big surprise cause since 8 years, they became very strong too. :grin:

Then there is a second round with the 16 qualified teams. It’s a direct elimination tournament, with quarter finals, semi finals and final, like in tennis. The positions in the tournament tree are determined by the first round results : for instance winner of group A meets second of group B, and winner of group B meets second of group A - and the same with groups C and D, E and F, H and G.

For instance, if USA manage to have the second place in group E, they’ll probably meet Brazil and it will be a lot harder. :neutral:

I tried to create this post 5 times, each time I got interupted/accidentally pressed browser’s X… please, not this time again @_@

Ok, so for anyone who wants to do a prediction…:

Winner A vs Runner-up B -> Q1
Winner C vs Runner-up D -> Q2
Winner E vs Runner-up F -> Q3
Winner G vs Runner-up H -> Q4
