A Lucidity Assessment:

This is my first post here, so hello all. I’ll get right to the point of this topic:

I’ve been into lucid dreaming for about two months now and I’ve come a long way since I’ve started the quest for lucidity. I’ve run into a problem tho. You see, my dream recall is through the roof; I remember complete dreams, everything that happens, everything I say, etc. Most nights I actually remember 3-4 really vivid dreams and all my dreams are lengthy and in-depth (I once had a dream that lasted 2 days dream-time). My issue is, I never get to the point of lucidity. I always remember I was dreaming only after I’ve woken up and reflected on it. I know my dream recall is far beyond what it needs to be to start developing lucidity but no matter how hard I try I always “miss my mark” so to speak.

To correct this, I’ve begun programming my phone to go off every few hours to remind me to do a reality check; I’m hoping this might carry over into a dream once I do them naturally. Also, I’ve tried MILD’s combined with WBTB’s but I’m not sure if I’m conducting the MILD’s correctly.

My question is, am I on the right track for gaining a more reliable ability to go lucid? Should I try some other things to help with lucidity? What do you suggest? I’m close, I know that, it’s just I’m missing something. Anyone else in this boat?

[PS: If this was posted incorrectly as far as topics go, please move this thread where necessary; I’m the moderator of a different forum and I know how annoying incorrect posting can get  ]

Hey there OfPandora  welcome to ld4all.

As you know, having such a great dream recall is increadible :content: DO you keep a dream journal? If so you can look for your personal dreamsigns. Many people use a timer to RC or RC at specific times during the day. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I guess it works for some people. But I myself find it a lot more meaningful if I RC when I see a dreamsign or anything odd. Also if I ever hear or read about dreaming (since having a dream about dreaming and not getting lucid can be frustrating! )

There are some great tutorials and guides in the LD4all knowledge base you might want to look through, including one that helps you chose a good technique depending on how you sleep and your motivation…

Meditation is also a great help to clear the mind. I find when I fall asleep with a clear peaceful mind it is a LOT easier to realize I’m dreaming.

Anyway, best of luck!

I do in fact keep a dream journal, but surprisingly I’ve found that my dreams are so long and so in-depth if I were to write out all my experiences for one night I would have to write for hours! Perhaps I should still write in moderation tho to possibly recognize a common dreamsign. I will do so.

As for the knowledge base, I’ve begun extensive research within it’s information banks. Hopefully I’ll come across something that will help me out.

In all, thanks for the information :content:

ive got great dream recall aswell but also struggle with LD. you’ll do fine
