As you perhaps know, I can’t WILD. I’ve tried for years without any results. These last nights, I’ve tried harder. I’ll describe below what most often happens.
I relax. When I’m relaxed, I focus on my breathing. When my breathing is thin, I focus on something (repeating a mantra, looking at the phosphenes, etc.) I stay firmly on my practice of the night, that’s if I realize I’m thinking about something, I jump back to my practice.
Sometimes, I’m practising like this when I go to bed, sometimes during WBTB.
Most of the time, I reach a state in which I barely don’t feel my body, I’m deeply relaxed and my thoughts are few and slow. But nothing more happens. It seems I can stay in this state for hours, and effectively, I tried the last nights, and stayed in this state during 3 or 4 hours. But nothing happens, no vibrations, no HI, no dream, no fake body positions, etc. I thought that this state was a sort a deep transe.
Some people I know have the same problem, so I asked Flo for her opinion (she’s very experienced in LD and dzogchen meditation). She replies to me that the state I have reached was not a transe, it was just a sort of deep numbness and it was absolutely useless. She said that in this state, there was no tsel (a tibetan word describing a creative energy) and for a dream to appear, there must be tsel.
What is your opinion about this state, and do a lot of people experience it ?
I think you are trying too hard to not fall asleep, you have to let yourself fall asleep eventually. I haven’t had your problem since I seem to always fall asleep even if I try not to… You could try to continue focusing on your breathing after it gets thin, then you should reach the vibrations after a while if you manage to lie completely still. Btw what happens if you focus on phosphenes? Do you get any HI? and what happens then if you get HI? I usually fall asleep after I get HI for a while because I seem to get lost in my thoughts.
This is what happens to me if I try too hard to fall asleep…it can last the whole night, if I am unlucky. It did, last night. I have never heard about this happening to other people! Sometimes I can lie like that with a song stuck in my head for hours. It is very irritating. HI usually marks a very welcome end to this.
Actually after days, weeks and even months of trying damn WILD, it worked today! I found trying it in the morning for the first time actually worked… so you could try a change in time?
i think you probably focus too much!
I usually have no problem having HI because i always drift a lot in my mind! I have problems getting HI to become a LD. when i go lucid i just loose control and the dream fades away!
try letting your thoughts flow…
like this…
