Active Counting technique

This is a new technique I devised. If you do WILD you know you can count yourself to sleep: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. If you do DILD or MILD you know you can say a mantra like, “I will lucid dream”. (Thus the following technique could also be called “Active Mantra” technique.)

With this technique, instead of counting the numbers, you replace each number with a visualised scenario, each totally different from the previous. Each scenario is a completely different location from the previous and it must include an impossible characteristic - like flying, or being an inanimate object. Here’s how mine goes:

  1. I’m hovering above the balcony at Buckingham Palace

I instantly teleport to:

  1. I’m a giant eating the moon

  2. I AM the moon

  3. I’m in my childhood bed and I fly at 100000 mph to

  4. My old bed where my body heat is 1000 degrees centigrade.

  5. I’m flying above my house

  6. I’m at the local park and my head is six metres in diameter.

etc.

The visualisation of each scenario lasts a second (replacing the number) before switching to the next one. There are 30 scenarios on my list. I do this with WBTB. Once I had learned the scenarios well it’s as easy as counting normally.

Sounds pretty cool. What is the purpose of this counting technique, though? Is it intended that you will eventually slip into one of these scenarios as a dream, and, because they are impossible, know that you are dreaming?
