Right…
I’m planning on going to see The Dark knight again, dressed up as the Joker.
But… I have no idea how to do the hair
I’ve slightly longer than shoulder length hair and I’m not going to do anything about the colour but how can I get this effect?
I could probably borrow gel and such from my brother so I have that at my disposal.
I have a busy few days coming up so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to check back here but I’d appreciate any help.
this melted yellow looks like that kind of paint you give to kids at pre-school.
if ye hair ain’t black, i’d recommend you dye it that colour and put your hands on some yellow gouache. if you can have a look at it before buying, be sure it’s the yellow guache with that thick, opaque quality (in technical speak, gouache with a lil’ bit of aquapasto — but really, not much, or it’ll dry up and your hair will look like dreadlocked, which is quite not the effect you’re looking for here).
gouache go away with just water & a little bit of effort, i know that for sure, because — see, — painting rookies is a tradition in Brazilian university and i’ve been a bachelor three times already, and that’s the paint they use, for that very reason. (really, perhaps i should stop dropping out of my courses and make up my mind).
get it and try it the day before — like i said, you can remove the paint almost effortlessly, so you can test with it before going for sure. if it doesn’t work, you’ll probably need some similar paint. while you’re at it, really, just bring a print of that picture with you to some art & crafts shop, and ask what’s best for that effect.
now, as far as i can tell you, this is the trick: do not dye your hair yellow, it will not look like that image; dye it black and have yellow paint over it for gel.
Hey if you are really interesting in making a really top-notch Joker costume, check out this thread over at a costuming forum I’m a part of.
thedentedhelmet.com/forums/s … hp?t=27329
There’s also a separate thread somewhere that discusses all the make-up and whatnot.
https://www.thedentedhelmet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=b88d224867b80a2c2cc04eb83376b75f&t=27336
these people are amazing. i don’t know what that scarring product is, but i want it. shame that, judging by the pictures in the make-up topic, these guys are about as good in producing the whole shebang as they suck in performance. acting classes, people!
Compare your costume to that of the Joker, see how you look.
Yeah, I love that place. TDH and LD4all are tied for my favorite online community. The people there take costuming VERY seriously, and strive for 100% movie accuracy. While the site is dedicated to primarily Boba and Jango Fett, you can find all sorts of other costume projects ranging from Daft Punk, Batman, 300, Iron Man, and Predator to anything else Star Wars.
Sorry to get off topic a little bit, but as Bruno put it, yes, the people there are amazing in their talent, costuming at least, don’t know about acting.
So Mrs T, since you are only 16 I’m guessing you are on a budget and don’t really care to have a perfect Joker outfit, you should still follow that thread for cheaper alternatives. People keep finding better and cheaper ways to make stuff, that still look almost as good as the real deal.
EDIT: Here’s the link for the make-up thread if you don’t feel like digging: thedentedhelmet.com/forums/s … light=joke r+make
I’m so going to check out those links when I have time, I’m in such a hurry for now…
Well good, whenever you get a chance. I just hope you find it helpful.
Those links were really awesome, thanks people!
But blazinfish is right about me being on a budget though I really wish I could have a perfect costume…
I’ve got the pants and an acceptable shirt and I’ve been all over town looking for a green vest but they don’t seem to exist here so I’ll have to go with the black one I used for my Sweeney Todd costume
But the links gave me a nice guide to the hair so at least I’ve got that now
Hey you’ll have to show us pics!
Also, since you didn’t mention it, do you have a trenchcoat?
Even if you find one that is the same style, but not the right color you could bleach it and dye it with Rit(thats the brand) dye, I think.
I’d double check on dying tho, before you try it. If you want to ask some of the people at the other board I linked to, you can make an account or I could simply relay messages back and forth.
Well, here’s a pic of me trying out the make up, I didn’t have a reference when I applied it because I wasn’t actually trying to make it accurate. I was more interested in what applying it was like.
Of course I’m way too happy to look jokerish there and a guy said I looked like Freddy Krueger’s and the Joker’s love child but it’s the best pic I have for now…
Edit: Forgot to say, I don’t own a trench coat so I’m going for the interrogation scene version
Cool, so then all you have to do is make sure you look really messy and sloppy; beatings from the Bats will do that
Right, everything seemed to be conspiring against me when I was going to the cinema but once I got there I had a great time. Though due to aforementioned conspiracy I only have a few pics of which this is the best
But seeing as I went to school today dressed up I have a few very new pics, I haven’t actually washed the make up off yet
