(Please smack me over the head if I’ve posted this in the wrong place, I’m rather new here.)
Last night I managed to wake up several hours after I went to sleep, planning to WILD. I spent a few minutes planning what I would do, then settled on an activity and lay back down.
Sadly I didn’t manage to WILD - I just fell asleep - but my (non-lucid) dream was based (loosely) on one of the things I was considering doing.
It feels to me that if I focus solely on lucid dreaming before I go back to sleep I should hopefully have a lucid dream in the same way as I ‘chose’ my dream last night.
Am I on the right track, or have I got it all wrong?
You’re on the right track, you just need to find the feel for WILD The trick, I believe, is to expect what will happen, so that you can easily recognize it- And ofcourse being able to really stay focused while falling asleep, but the fact that you actually managed to fall asleep during WILD (Many ppl can’t) is a good sign- I mean, falling asleep is the first step to having a lucid dream
i used to fall asleep all the time during WILD, now i never can =P maybe my mind told myself not to because i kept falling into a ND…
that brings me to a question that’s been bugging me for a while: am i supposed to be falling asleep or not? i mean, if i feel like im drifting off, should i let myself go or wake myself up more? ive tried both and neither seem to work…
The technique you are describing sounds much more like MILD to me than WILD. You can definitely use techniques such as this one to get lucid and it sounds like it is certainly worth looking into further for you. I would research MILD + WBTB, since this seems to best describe what you are doing.
You have to stay aware. Drifting off, is good or bad depending if you are aware or not. As for how to stay aware I’m not sure, I’m still trying to understand that myself. The many techniques seem to be based around keeping you focused, therefore keeping your rational mind active, but still allowing you to fall asleep.
