An annoying habit...

Okay so I have been working on dream recall for quite some time now (for other purposes) but only recently I had a friend link me to the LD website. So that night after reading the forums I thought I would give it a shot… and to much suprise I actually had one. However lately as I have been trying to WILD I have become more aware of my need to swallow and I feel like it is keeping me from becoming aware of my HI and entering an LD.

Does anyone have any suggestions or methods I could try to stop this annoying habit?

I have the same problem, all i do is just swallow it though, it shouldn’t really affect HI at all.
Just try not to think about it too much i guess…

You need to ease your mind, your mind has so many layers of conscience that not even you have idea. Some part of it can take care of swallowing, breathing, and other simple things.
Maybe you are too anxious to force so much salivation, because when your mind gets slower to be ready to deep sleep, saliva level is very low (and that’s why is so important to brush your teeth well before going to sleep).

I suggest you to higher your pillow, take deep breaths, calm down and try to forget about salivation and swallowing, hoping your mind you do it for you unconsciously.
I never heard of normal people choking with saliva after all.

I had the same problem, I also had trouble breathing at first. I just relaxed and told myself that it was completely normal, after all, it happens to everybody when they fall asleep.

I would just relax and try to ignore it. I would also recommend drinking something like water before bed, it tends to make the need to swallow less frequent.
