An idea: using your LDs for constructive purposes?

Hello. This is my first post on this forum.

Here’s what I want to ask you: is it possible to do something really constructive during your (lucid) dreams?

  1. an you use them to come up with solutions to some real life problems? (an example: I started using those yellow sticky papers a lot recently, and I wanted to come up with the best way to mark, for instance, undone task, done task, priorities… Which colours to use? How to “group” tasks? etc… etc… So, I decided to think about it while having a lucid dream and to remember solutions when I wake up… and thus save some time I’d have to spend thinking about it in RL!

  2. Solving math problems - possible?
example: let’s say you manage to memorize a math problem (the initial set-up). Can you solve it in your dream (lucid one), memorize the solution (the final one) and check it when you wake up.

  3. Composing
straight-forward: note: you have to be able to write it down when you wake up

  4. Going through what you learned (from a textbook) during a dream, improving your knowledge and finding out what’s not clear to you (maybe even formulating questions)
note: the same thing you do during RL while not using a book, now only in a LD

  5. Plain thinking (but with your real life knowledge, abilites… maybe even extended)?

So, what do you think?

Hi, and welcome!

I beleive it’s all possible. I’ve heard that math is usually kinda hard, but I beleive (based on nothing  ) that it might just be a matter of practice…

It being possible and the results you get might really depend on your lucid skills though, I think…

Yes, all is possible when you get good at LDing

In fact it would be possible to do all those things in a normal dream too. It’s just a matter of the thing being on your mind prior to the dream and/or incubating the dream.

i suppose this could be possible…but it would most likely be easier just to do the problem…although it would be cool to study in your sleep.

Thank you for your replies! Has anyone tried anything from the above?

Well, the benefit of doing it in your dreams is that you are in a different state of consciousness. You have more contact with your SC too. What I mean is you could say your mind is “expanded”.

I’ve heard increadible music in dreams (ND’s), things I wouldn’t ever possibly create IWL.

I’ve memorized a Play in a dream, and remembered it all when I woke up. This was a ND though. Shocked the hell out of me. I’ve also figured out a math question I was having trouble with before I went to bed, then I knew how to solve it in the morning. Again this was a ND.
My mom has also come up with solutions, ideas in her dreams, so it’s entirely possible.

As for LD’s, well, I’ve composed and learnt a lot of about music from them.

It’s all possible. But if you’re not careful to check your results when you wake up you might get things wrong. In dreams you may believe things you really shouldn’t believe IWL. So since you have to double check your maths and facts when you wake up, it seems interesting but difficult to use. You may ofcourse see things from a different perspective that you wouldn’t IWL, so it is not useless.

Even I have heard beautiful music in dreams that I don’t know where it came from. My mind created it though at that time. Actually, now that I think about it, It was in some hypnogogic states.
Dreams are very good for creative purposes since they are all about creativity.

Thinking can ofcourse also be done, with thoughts you may not have thought otherwise. The brain becomes excellent at freestyling in dreams.

I hadn’t thought about this aspect of dreams in a while. Thanks for bringing it up!

Math: I’ve done math in NDs several times. It was the most amazing experience ever. Everything flowed easily.

Composing: Check out the Devil’s Trill Sonata by Tartini. He had a dream where the Devil came to him and played that song, and he wrote it down when he woke up. He says it’s not anywhere close to what he heard and made him want to abandon his efforts as a composer.

I like this thread
If I can ever manage to have control in LD’s (and have them often), I really want to do this, especially with music. I could come up with some crazy stuff using LD power. My only concern with making music in dreams is that you might wake up, thinking that you’ve just composed a song in your sleep, when in reality it was a song you heard on the radio once or twice that your subconscious brought up. You would never know until you heard the song again, and that would really suck.
But yeah, I really do want to do some RL-enhancing stuff with LD’s.

It is interesting, I intend to try learning different languages this way, languages like Greek or maybe French or Swedish.
Not as interested in the music part though, I don’t like music that much.
Math may be interesting as well.
Maybe even learn how to handle weapons.
I’ll have to try if it is possible, but I’m sure it will be fun at the very least. :content:

Last “night” I dreamed that I had made an animation which I thought was pretty good. Then a friends little brother showed me an animation he had done which was much better. It would be cool to be able to recreate them now.

Composing: Check out the Devil’s Trill Sonata by Tartini. He had a dream where the Devil came to him and played that song, and he wrote it down when he woke up. He says it’s not anywhere close to what he heard and made him want to abandon his efforts as a composer.

WOW… it’s amazing!
