I’m wondering as to whether or not I might be able to convince one or more of those of you who are regular lucid dreamers to try a little experiment. This experiment has two parts. If the first part works then I will know that I am not too far off track. If the second part works then you will have done a broken down old cowboy a great favor.
The first part of the experiment goes something like this:
When you go to bed, get comfortable and start pacing your breathing. By this I mean breathe in for the count of four, pause briefly and then breathe out for the count of four. Fill your lungs to capacity with each breath if you can. After a while you might have to increase the count to six or eight. Don’t worry if you become light headed or even a bit heady. All this means is that you are successfully oxygenating your blood and that more blood is getting to your brain. After a while you might also begin to feel a slight tingling in your arms or legs. Again, don’t worry. This is a completely natural reaction. You have begun to tap into a living form of energy. I will not make any spectacular claims about what you will or will not be able to do with this energy because I don’t want to contaminate your minds in any way. Suffice it to say that this is but one small example of the energy of life.
While most of your attention is focused upon your breathing focus your mind upon the fact that you would like to have a lucid dream and set a goal for that dream. For example, if you want to fly through the jungles of Africa you could tell yourself that you want to have a lucid dream and that you would like to fly through the jungles of Africa in this dream.
Please let me know if this works.
The other half of this experiment involves helping others become lucid by, with their permission, entering their dreams and “waking them up”, if you will. I don’t know how this is going to work but then again I am of the opinion that just because we haven’t done something before does not mean that it is impossible; all it means is that we haven’t tried the right combination of elements yet.
As t the request, I would very much appreciate it if one or more of you could step into my dreams and help me become lucid. I am in Wyoming, in the United States, which is in the Mountain time zone. I usually don’t start dreaming until around two o’clock in the morning. If you should decide to accept this challenge please be warned, most of mt dreams are in color and last night, even though I was only able to take notes on nine of them, I think I had around 15 dreams.
Like I said, in my opinion nothing is impossible. Just because we haven’t done something before doesn’t mean it is impossible; all it means is that we haven’t tried the right combination of elements yet. I read somewhere that dreaming is actually a form of astral projection. Maybe, if you were to take it from this angle you would find a way.
An accomplished psychic once said that he was able to astrally project himself into the mind of a child who had been kidnapped and was able to communicate with him.
So far as the breathing thing goes, I have been trying it for the past few days and last night was very frustrating. I had a few dreams but I was conscious most of the night. I wasn’t able to take control of the dreams because it was more of a relief to have something to watch (other that the foggy, gray mists of sleep) that I just let them play out. I have a feeling that getting to where I want to be with lucid dreaming is going to be a process.
Well, I’m not an incredibly accomplished lucid dreamer by any means, but I’d certainly be willing to give this experiment a go. For the second part though, I think it might help if you posted a picture in the The LD4all Photo Gallery. This would help other dreamers to get a mental image of you, dramatically increasing the chances of a shared dream (also, don’t get your hopes up too high on this… SDs are fairly rare).
I realize that shared dreams are fairly rare and I can think of one or two pretty good reasons as to why this is so. I do, however have a question. How do I go about posting a photo in the photo gallery. All I really know about computers is how to run a mouse and click a few keys. There is actually a littl more to it than that but I will most likely never claim anything more.
Brent, you have a picture in that article, so just right click it with your mouse and copy image location (or click properties and get the image url that way) and then just post the url in the gallery topic.
for other pictures you would have to use a free hosting site like photobucket or imageshack
