Another update, Help Wanted.

Hello all,

Well I did make a previous post some time ago, on how I thought I obtained a lucid dream. Anyway I have been practicing for a couple of weeks now & here is where I am but I have two types of questions.

  1. So using the countdown method from 100 and trying to stay focused whilst falling asleep, I get this huge amount of pressure on my chest, my legs and arms tingle, then I see a load of images that don’t make any sense, I can see whatever images I think of but they are not clear if that makes any sense, does this mean I am nearly there? I am know I am 20 years of age but does this mean it’s harder for me to obtain lucidity.

  2. This one is very strange and I woke up crying I really don’t know what’s happening here. Before I started to practice lucid dreaming my dreams was completely random. Usually about nothing etc. But now when I dream I dream about what im thinking about before I go to bed. But the thing is I could think of something and dream about it but it’s not in the context I want it to be. How do I stop dreaming of my days events or can I control weather they are good or bad?

Here is last nights dream log. ( as much as I remember )

There is a girl I like & I was thinking about here before I was sleeping. When I entered my dream ( I knew I was dreaming in parts, but not all which was odd, and i had no control ) anyway…

This girl ( we will call her ) was arriving by train, Don’t know where I was or why I was there, although I will be using a train to meet her… Anyway she got off and then out of no where we entered a massive hall, with loads of doors, it’s like my dream just changed scenes, for some reason a fire started in the room we was in and she was just laughing, then the room filled up with water and she had an oxygen mask on, although at the same time she was trying to save a drowning girl… everytime she tried to touch the girl a bone of the girls body broke / really deformed… This is what gets me, I woke up and walked into my kitchen… ( I really thought I was awake ) and there was piles of bodies of burning people… This is what freaked me becuase I thought I was awake… anyway I fell and went through the floor, Then I really did wake up but it felt like I dropped onto my bed, I woke up and head a red back and a saw neck, what the hell was that… Scared the " s*** out of me, now im scared to go to sleep ( please dont laugh ) i know to you it sounds nothing but the way i saw it was horrifying…

and lastly and for some reason when im drifting into sleep, i can hear i voice saying hello and a strange figure appears and then my body flings up into the air… and then when i open my eyes i drop down onto my bed.

Whats happening to me?? It feels so real ( the one where my body flies into the air is freaky as when i open i drop onto my bed??

Hi there .

First things first, it sounds like you’re attempting to do a WILD with the countdown method. One thing that can help is doing it later in the night/morning, about 4-6 hours after you first go to bed. It can really speed the process up. Anywho, on to your questions.

1.) Yes, those feelings and images indicate you are closer. The difficult part is that you need to try to ignore what is happening with your body. A lot of the “pressure” is the odd feeling of your functions becoming more automatic and going into sleep mode. The tingling can indicate you are going into sleep paralysis, but does not necessarily mean it’s right around the corner. It may still take some time to fully enter SP though, so the best thing to do is to ignore the feeling. As for the images, they are known as HI. Again, leave them be. Eventually they will start to form into a dream. Just observe them, try to not decipher or interact with them.

2.) If you notice a lot of things that are in your day, try to focus on other things while you’re falling asleep, maybe daydream or some such?

For those other things:

The red back and neck pain are a little simpler to explain. In a nightmare scenario, it’s not uncommon for you to tense up, which could explain the soreness. Also, as you begin to panic your body produces adrenaline like normal, which will raise your heart rate and can raise your body temperature. That’s why sometimes people wake up from nightmares drenched in sweat, and I know it’s happened to me. If you were laying on your back, the bed probably insulated the extra heat which caused the red look and could have also given you the idea of burning in your dream.

Dropping is also very common. If you’re asleep and suddenly jerk awake while you think your hitting the ground, your body has basically been tricked into thinking it’s really happening and has broken out of SP to protect itself. It’s really not that uncommon.

So far nothing you’ve said here is anything I haven’t seen before. That means none if it should worry you . I hope that helps calm you down some. If you really are nervous about the whole thing, try taking a break for a week or two. In any case, I don’t think you have any reason to be worried :content:

Thank you very much for your reply. It has actually put my mind at ease, I think know what I need to do is like you said, try to ignore the images I see and ignore the sensation I feel around my body when attempting to enter SP.

What annoys me is I feel as if I am almost there but it feels so strange I force myself to wake up, it’s like I feel like it’s not safe. Which I know now it is. I will keep at it. Last night I had a much better sleep, Your reply really did calm me down.

Thank you very much!
