Say… any other Baldur’s Gate II fans out there? Here’s a topic where you too can express your thoughts on the game (yay!).
I just beat it once. In case you are curious (and even if you are not!) this is the party I used:
PC: Janus, male human paladin (inquisitor kit)
Jaheria (replaced by an old friend from BG I when I reached the Throne of Bhaal expansion because I did not like her personality. Powerful, though.)
Minsc (everybody loves Minsc!)
Jan (my second favorite)
Yoshimo/Imoen
Viconia (Annoying at first, but her romance dialogues were so good…)
Some nice and funny dialogues with this crew.
I might want to play through the whole game again some time. If there are any other fans out there, I am open to suggestions regarding my choice in character class, mods, and traveling companions. I’m considering a sorcerer.
yah, i’m a fan of the game. unfortunatly i haven’t gotten all that much of a chance to play it, so i’m only on like chapter 2 or 3. right now miy party has:
PC: Arkencha, fighter/theif, male, half elf/ elf(i can’t remember right now)
Yoshimo
Nalia
Jaheira (she is soooo annoying)
Minsk
maybe Korgan… its been so long since i played.
anyway, i love the whole game except for the battle system. i think i’m definatley more a fan of turn-based games. this is the first rpg i’ve actually owned. i borrowed FF7 from a freind once and that was totally awesome. i wish i could find a copy for pc to buy but all i can find is playstation. oh well! nice to find another fan!
Jaheira’s power makes up for her being annoying. Her Ironskin spell makes her very hard to kill in melee. And her ability to summon elementals is nice. Unlike other druids, Jaheira can bring dead characters back to life. If only she’d tone down the rants…
The gameplay is definetely more tactical than FF7 (a good thing, IMO). Turning on all the autopause options helps (it is a must for me).
You should try going back playing to it. BGII is a very rewarding game to complete. No rush to complete it, just take your time and have fun. Have you been to Spellhold yet? I think the game really picks up from Spellhold onwards. Have you fought a dragon yet? There are up to two you can fight before Spellhold. Dragon fights are difficult and rewarding (both in terms of fun and profit!). There are 3 in SOA (I think) and you can fight more in Throne of Bhaal.
Now, on FF7… While FF7 is a great game, I think it is a bit overrated. The characters and storyline are nothing special… (oh my gawd, you killed Aeris!) And it is not very tactical. Music is catchy, though. I had a lot of fun playing it… but I think BGII spoiled me.
