Hi people,
The other night I was lucky enough to be in a very LD. Unfortunately I knew that I couldn’t sleep too long otherwise I would be late for work (as I got Lucid through WBTB I knew what the time was!)
The problem was I couldnt wake. I tried rubbing my eyes which has worked for me in the past but that morning it didnt. It was extremely frustrating and I was panicing a little in the dream throwing my body around smashing it into walls etc. in a bid to wake myself.
I had about 7FA’s and each was getting me more worked up.
When I did wake i had loads of time as what felt like 30 mins was only a couple. What an idiot.
I realise I should of kept calm but if anyone has any advice on waking from a LD that would be good. Cheers.
didn’t you had an alarmclock to wake you in time anyway?
other tips to wake up, is to go to sleep in your LD.
stare at one point
in LD’s I always know and feel my eyes are closed (like i’m looking through my eyelids) and just try real hard to open my eyes.
well you could set an alarm clock for yourself, I would try and remain lucid as loong as possible.
The method that I have heard of working is falling backwards. Just drop backwords dont worry about the floor the adrenlin rush SHOULD wake you up (even if you do hit the ground. it sure is better then running through walls!) I have also heard that closeing your eyes will also wake you up. After you wake up do a RC to make sure your not in a FA then I would assume you repeat the preccess if you are indeed in a FA (fall backwards…close eyes)
Yeah i do have an alarm clock but I think I was scared I wouldn’t hear it or it was going off and I just wasn’t hearing it, as I was so involved in this LD. It really had felt like I had been dreaming for ages.
Thanks for the advice anyway if i ever have that problem again ill try to remember it.
It did take the edge of the fantastic feeling of a LD.
I was that desperate I even asked my housemate, who was a DC in the dream, to please wake up and come and wake me!
It didnt work but nice idea.
And otherwise… you know your clock is set… your scared you wouldn’t hear it… wel since your in a LD try to say to yourself what the hack this is an LD everything looks diffrent so then I’ll get late to work and I tell them I slept through my alarm
Honey, half of us are trying to find techniques to prolong LDs, and you want to cut their duration? I wish i was lucky as u. (cant beleive someone was trying to wake from an LD its like have 1000 tons of ice cream and dont eat it)
mmm ice cream.
Well now if teess gets sick of LD-ing he can opt out now… I dont see why but hehe.
alarmclock is a good method though. OR going to bed and making sure you get 9 hours of sleep before the clock! (like going to bed at 8pm lol )
If I want to wake up from a dream for some reason, I close my eyes hard and open them again. I wake up in SP and have to wait a couple of seconds before I can move the rest of my body. Once I did that to remember a phone number from a LD.
Yeah Alex it does sound pretty stupid and a waste of a very lucid dream in retrospect. At the time though it was incredibly frustrating. I havent been able to get lucid since unfortunately (although this was only last sunday night). Hope I havent self induced myself to stop LD’ing.
I have had some other not so nice experiences with LD’s in the past as well (pain and paralyis which I hate!) but the goods outweigh the bads by miles.
yeah think about being attached to your bed with a bungee cord. Thinking you are awake you get ready for work then you get pulled back into bed and have todo it again. 7 times!!! I think it would get annoying after a while.
Well, you can close your eyes and wake up…
But better way is to have sex with someone call it a “quickie” and you’ll wake up soon… welll, you may have wet pants tho
The best ways to wake up that I know of are to close your eyes then open them or just let your hole body relax in the dream and don’t be involved in the dream.
You could also try counting yourself awake. Count from 1-10 and tell yourself at the count of 10 you will be awake. I never tried this one I just now made it up but I bet it would work.
I have no problem waking up from dreams. But I’m not really sure now I do it, all I know is that I can wake myself up if I need to do it. I even wake myself up if I get a nightmare, it’s a automatic thing for me if I get a nightmare. So far I have always managed to wake myself up if I wanted to do it. I think that’s probably why some of my LDs are a bit short, I unintentionally wake myself up from them
I find just closing my eyes and falling backwards either wakes me up or gives me a FA where I don’t go lucid again. Good for getting out of sticky situations!
Hehe! I NEVER want to wake up from an LD!
Most people have already posted the things here that wake me up.
