I’ve been trying to WILD for a few nights now but everytime I get to hearing sounds that aren’t there I freak out and effectively ruin it. Any tips on how to stay calm?

I think you can try focusing on thinking about having a lucid dream rather than that noise

Have you tried WILDing when you are really sleepy? It has worked for me, because I am simply too sleepy to be bothered by disturbances then.
The sounds are called hypnagogic hallucinations. They simply mean that you are falling asleep. WILD makes us focus more consciously on the process of falling asleep, so the sounds are also more easily noticed. One other thing that has worked for me is to visualise a scene where the sounds/flashing images/random thoughts would be a natural part. Sometimes, the “daydream” scene and the hypnagogic hallucinations merge to form a stable dream.
when you see/hear hallucinations you are already in a altered state of consciousness, so everything is different, even fear has a different taste.
those hallucinations are pretty cool and don´t happen everytime, unfortunately.
I don’t know if this is good advice, but after a while you get more used to them. That’s what happened with me.
