Authority on Hypnagogia's book is awfully pricey...

Andreas Mavromatis evidently made a big splash with his Hypnagogia: The Unique State of Consciousness Between Wakefulness and Sleep.

I’m looking at paying at LEAST $120.00 for this, and better-condition copies are going to take me closer to $200.00.

Does anyone know what accounts for this?

Let’s see…I know little about book pricing, but my guess has something to do with rarity, maybe? It’s 360 pages—not lightweight, but length appears to have nothing to do with pricing. Just compare this to an 800 page Harry Potter book.

Like I said with the rarity, it’s probably a hard-to-find book. But I’m really just guessing here, as I really have no idea…but I’m thinking that might be it since on Amazon there appears to betwo copies left.

no links to vendors please

Try eBay, maybe you’ll get lucky and find a cheap copy.

i got it from the unviersity library

its not as useful as you would think really

but if you are fascinated in collecting the ideas of researches then ebay would be a good option, if not a public library.

the thing with scientists is they are discovering things that have already been fully discovered a long long time ago

if one wants to understand hypnagogia they are MUCH better suited to reading yoga sutras
and exploring swamij.com/yoga-nidra.htm
rather than sciencey things, unless they are interested in the specific breakdown of the mystical into chemical counterparts and studies, etc,

thousands of years ago
AUM
a-awake
hypnagogia~
u-dreaming
m-deep sleep

and all the states between were devotedly mapped by people who spent more than one life studying and mastering how to STAY THERE 24 HOURS A DAY,
these people gave us a library of wealth and wisdom
Understanding Our Mind by Thich Nhat Hanh provides more beautiful wisdom and info than Hypnagogia by Mavromatas
, now is it about hypnagogia ? no, it is about much more than that.

if you have the $$$ to dish out feel free, otherwise i say seek a library, and look elsewhere for this information.

you can look up the closest university to you, go to their website and look in their library, and see if they have it.

Very insightful response. Thank you.
