Backup Plan?

I was reading some posts and i was wondering…

Is there a way you could be sure of having an LD in a night? Like you’d start off with a WILD, and if that didn’t pan out you start dreaming and then realize it and become lucid?

Basically, MILD - WILD

When you are practicing WILD you want to stay conscious. I fyou can stay conscious while practicing MILD you’re doing both at once aren’t you? For instance, counting “1-I will realise I am dreaming.” Yo udo that while at the same time trying to stay conscious by it being your mental activity.
However this approach may not be necessary. since Practicing WILD can cause a DILD anyway. As for being sure to have one I think it’s a matter of experience. You can always try. And do try WBTB, It ROCKS!

In a word, no.

But doing as many techiques as you can will definitely help your odds. Good luck.

I think having a backup plan is always good - in all things, not just LD. I guess a complete 'backup’plan would involve doing lots of reality checks during the day, then going to sleep and trying WILD but setting the clock to awake you after 7 or so hours(since if you fall asleep without lucidity with WILD, you will still have lost an hour of so or sleep). Possibilities include:
1)WILD works-> Lucid Dream! And after you wake up and write your lucid dream, you can try Wilding again…
2)WILD doesn’t work, but Reality Checks do -> Lucid Dreams.
3)Neither WILD nor RCs work, you wake up with the clock - now you can try combining WBTB with Wild.
I confess to never having actually tried this technique, but it sure does look effective(though I’m a bit biased, having suggested it)

On some nights I have tried WILD while going to sleep, and set alarm clock 1 for 5 hours of sleep. Wake up at 5: Set alarm clock for 2 hours of sleep try WIlD again.
Wake up at 7 try WBTB + MILD.

However I found waking up by alarm often disturbs dream recall. And I fall asleep slowly and WILD didn’t go well.

Now I drink some water before bed. Do MILD before going to bed. When I wake up for bathroom during night, I do some more MILD and autosuggestion and results have been better.
