Banksy

Anyone else heard of this amazing artist? He has done many different stunts and tricks, some quite controversial, and others that have won the hearts of the public. Some would class his work as horrible graffiti, but i believe that his artwork is simply amazing… Especially his modified water lilies…

For anyone interested in seeing some of his work, there’s a Wikipedia article about Banksy here. Google Images returns a lot of results also.

He seems to be very talented, and I get the impression that he mostly uses his artwork to get a message across to people. While I respect his dedication and obvious skill, I find it hard to appreciate graffiti in any form. There must be other ways to express yourself without defacing public structures.

I would argue that graffiti artists like Banksy are not defacing public structures so much as enriching them. In general, I would much rather see a work of art than the bland concrete wall beneath it.
You know, we are told that nature abhors a vacuum, so perhaps there is something in human nature that sees a large blank space and wants to fill it.

In my opinion his graffiti is really eye-catching and - in some way - inspiring. It makes me think more about its sense than some big letters on the colourful background or strange creatures without any emotion on their faces.
