Hi, I’m new here. For a number of weeks I have been attempting to induce a WILD and occasionally a WBTB lucid dream but had little results apart from a few HI and extremely relaxed states of mind. Since I didn’t seem to be getting anywhere I lost interest for a week until I loaned a book out from my local library about OBE’s.
After reading this book last night I felt as though it would be achievable, a perception which was largely helped by the fact that the author was a self-described average joe with an over-analytical and skeptical mind but who was nonetheless able to astrally project. I went to bed and began my nightly ritual of inhalation/muscular tension relaxation and started to count my breaths, making them long and drawn out. I remember counting to 100 without incident, however after that point I quickly lost track of the number. Feeling uncomfortable, I turned onto my side and let my mind wander.
The next thing I know I am lying on my back, apparently completely aware, with this incredible sensation of being massaged at nodes all over my body by an unseen force that pushed me down into my bed. At first I felt extremely frightened and uncomfortable, at one point I was even nauseous. I also felt cold, so with relative ease I pulled my sheets up as though strapping myself in for the journey ahead.
Feeling more confident this time since I was aware of what was happening to me, I relaxed my mind and was able to summon the sensation again. This feeling came on strong and was accompanied by a soundbite of an old scratchy gramophone. I quickly found out that if I relaxed and went with the feeling I felt light and untethered, and for a moment my stomach became a swirling vortex of energies pulling in every direction. My eyes were forced up into my skull and my attention rested on my forehead, which in turn became a node and began to pulsate along with the rest of my body. Again my focus shifted, this time to the top of my head. It felt as though the top of it had been removed and I was spilling out into the room, however despite wanting to go with it I remained in my body. Knowing that the experience was coming to a draw, I slipped into unconsciousness. I then woke from a ND to find that roughly 1 1/2 hours had elapsed.
Although this sounds like the beginning of an OBE, I am not quite sure that it is and so I ask you. There were inconsistencies, such as my pulling the sheets up. If I had been in the desired state would I have been able to do this or should I have been paralysed? When I woke I was hot and the sheets were in fact pulled up. Losing consciousness so many times also makes me think that this might have been a dream in which I was becoming OBE, but this doesn’t account for the sheets. I’m probably just working up a fuss about nothing, but it would be nice if I could validate my experience. And if anyone has any hints on how to take the next step and leave your body they would be greatly appreciated.
In any case this has given me the motivation to renew my efforts and the confidence that I can do it if I really try. Although I don’t believe in them, my stars for this week said that a dream will come true if you work hard and I now know that it will
