I would like to really start getting into lucid dreaming, and I have plenty of time during the day to spend on it. It seems that the best thing you can do during the day to help LDing is constantly do reality checks, (tell me if there’s anything else,) so I am wondering when are the best situations in which I should remember to do a RC. What worked best for you, and what have you heard works for other people. And don’t worry about how much effort it will take to get used to; I’m willing to do it.
Also, what RCs work best for you. So far I’ve had success with checking my watch twice to see if it changes, plugged nose breathing, and biting my tongue.
Thanks!
Well, I think that’s not good if you make a pattern with RC’s because that’s how it’s gonna transfer into your dreams. Do RC whenever is something suspicious or whenever you think about dreaming or making RC.
Also if you have a lot of time I would suggest meditation and focusing on dreams. It will help you a lot. Also use autosuggestion and mantra…
Good luck!
I’ve heard that if you do RCs when specific things happen, such as talking to someone or looking in a mirror, then you will do them in dreams and become lucid. Is this not the case? And if I do meditation, how would you suggest I perform it?
Correct, but just simple RC’ing isn’t enough. It’s very shallow activity most of the times, it will make you lucid from time to time but that’s all you gonna get from them. Being lucid in a dream means being lucid in WL too. Try to raise your awareness as much as you can, if you have time to dedicated it to this goal, then it shouldn’t be to hard.
Meditation will help you a lot in this. Well I don’t know much about meditation. You have a lot of information on the net, use google, when I did it I was meditating for 10 - 15 minutes tops, and it helped me getting focused on a goal, that’s why I suggested. But what type of meditation is best, how long to performed it, when to performed it and such questions I can not answer, because I don’t know the answer. I was meditating when I felt like meditating. You can do the same but if you have time put more effort in it, make a research on meditation and get to it!
You can only benefit from meditation…
I try to do RC’s all through the day, whenever I remember about them. I think the more you do, the more your mind will get used to doing them and then you’ll just start to do them when you’re dreaming. I’ve only had 1 LD, using no techniques, but that day I went crazy doing RC’s and when I was dreaming I just did it and became lucid!
I usually do the read, look away, read again RC so you can do it anytime you see a new sign on the street or whatever. I try to do it many times during the day.
Ok, thanks. I’ll definitely read up on meditating, and I will also start RCing more. Any suggestions in what situation to do a RC?
Do an RC when you get up, go to school (or university, etc), enter an elevator, walk up stair, etc. Also do an RC when you see, hear or something out of the ordinary happens.
But as dB_FTS stated RCing is a shallow activity, it is better to practice a lot of ‘Lucid Living’ and focus on your awareness, this is a MUST! Most people during a DILD become lucid by witnessing something out of the ordinary, and thinking this strange, think “I must be dreaming”. They do a RC to confirm this. Rather than RCing first, and thinking I’m dreaming after.
So far I’ve gotten three of my dreams from RCing first, one from noticing something out of the ordinary, and six or so from spontaneously realizing I was dreaming. They were all low lucidity though.
I’ll definitely try some of these things, thanks for the suggestions.
Of course, everyone is different. It’s just your average person use RC after realises they’re dreaming. Take a look at this: dreamviews.com/wiki/Puffins-DILD-Guide
Whenever you get erection I know it sounds nasty but everyone gets erections while there sleeping.
Man, I had a dream I was online LD4all reading about RC’s in a thread, and I didn’t RC. So yeah, RC whenever you think about RCing or see RCing. c:
Lol, but Frequent, not everyone is male >.<
Anyway, I find a really good trigger for RCs is the clock. Whenever I look at a clock I do a RC. Not just the fact that EVERYONE wants to know the time at least once during the day, but you can do 2 RCs at the same time
I’ll definitely try the erection one out. And I wear a watch and check it fairly frequently, so it would be great to get into the habit of doing it then.
In other news, I had a lucid dream two days ago. I thought about something in the dream which didn’t seem to add up (My car flipped but then kept going undamaged,) thought I might be dreaming, and did the nose reality check and became lucid. Though I immediately woke up, it was still good and the guides definitely helped.
