This was quite funny tbh. in my dream I woke up from my bed. but I couldn’t see anything at all everything was black… I’ve heard of the term but have forgotten it…
I know it’s conmen. So in the dream after realising I had no vision,
i put my head back down in bed, and then suddenly woke up ha ha…
Try and improvise ways to turn a light on. For example, if that happens to me, I extend my hand with which I pretend has a wand, and say ‘Lumos’. If you’re a harry potter fan you’ll know what that’ll do .
Or you could try and will the sun to come out with your mind?
Another method is to wake up, and use the DEILD chaining technique, which allows you to go straight into a WILD from waking up, and during the sleep paralysis incubate your own dream in your mind that’ll you go into. Only problem with this is that there’s a chance you might not be successful, but it does have quite a high success rate. I recommend you check it out in the tutorial section of the forum since it’s useful anyway if you wake up from a lucid dream.
That happen to me once and my best LD ever was to follow. I realized I was dreaming through a RC (hold your nose and breath) but everything was dark and I couldn’t make it light this had happen to me a few other times as well. So I thought maybe my eye’s aren’t open. SO I tried with all my might to open my eyes, they felt very heavy but I did it and WA LA it was light!
It is in my dream journal page 2 title “open your eyes, and see with your heart”
I also got to see someone who had died many years ago!
Thanks for the feedback everyone, sorry for the late reply…
Saffer, my room is not that dark, I’ll have the light off, and my laptop closed. But I can still see my room when in darkness, What happened was I think I got scared cause I thought I was blind which was what woke me up. because I could not see at all…
I often had bad nightmares where I was unable to turn on the light. In that situation the darkness was really scary, but more scaring was my inability to find a light switch (at least one which was working). I often asked myself why I dream something like that, though I don’t have any kind of fear in the darkness when I’m wake.
Then, when I came across that lucid dreaming topic on wikipedia by chance, following some links I found a scientific article which was stating that this is very common. One theory is, that your dreams appear dark because your eyes are shut. You visual cortex recognizes the real-world-darkness and projects it into your dreams.
With that knowledge on my mind I never had that kind of nightmare again. I really think rationality and conscious knowledge helps defeating fearful situations in a dream.
