Body never falls asleep when i try WILD

I’ve tried doing WILD for some time now, usually when i go to bed but sometimes with WBTB. The problem is nothing seems to happen, I’m just lying there and never falling asleep. The furthest I’ve got is some HI, that is I’ve heard voices and such that I know are not from the background. When I’m lying there I’m focusing on breathing and counting or repeating a word. Once in a while some body part begins to itch, but I’m able to forget that after a little while.
I often try this for a long time, but when nothing seems to happen I give up and find that I’ve spent between 1-2 hours lying there not falling asleep.
I can’t understand what I’m doing wrong, it seems my mind is used to falling asleep before my body does, and therefore I can’t do it the other way around…

I have near enough the same problem, The problem is I don’t even seem to get the HI. though I may be doing something wrong, don’t know what though.

Well, a WILD requires falling asleep, so you should focus more on that if you don’t seem to. First and foremost, learn to relax your body more, you can look up the 61-point relaxation tech on Google; secondly, learn to let go more in general, and let the mind wander, while keeping the faintest awareness of what you’re doing, so the transition into sleep will be as smooth as the other times you fall asleep :wink:

I found I have the same problem, when I WILD I build up to much awarness to early and don’t let the HI develop. Thanks for posting.

Try this: don’t try to WILD and simply fall asleep normally as you usually do. Only this time stay AWARE. no need to be on your back or do WBTB or whatever, just relax and give in to sleep. How do you normally fall asleep? For me there’s a different kind of relaxation that my body gets into when I really try to just fall asleep, not worrying about dreams. All this, but stay awake in a tiny little corner in your mind and watch it calmly :happy:

I also have this problem, I can’t do WBTB because alarm wont wake me up. How to do this plus I have ADHD. :tongue:
