This only happens once in a while and always seems to happen when I’m in the shower…
I get these really bright white lights trailing downward in my peripheral vision. They remind me of the trails fireworks leave as they’re burning out. If I try to look right at them, they disappear…they used to bother me but now when it happens I try to enjoy them as long as they are there. Does anyone know what the heck these lights are? My boyfriend says he’s never experienced them but with 6 billion people on the planet, I can’t be the only one and I thought the people on the LD forum would be the right people to ask.
just to be cautious… have you had your blood pressure checked recently. I get small white lights occasionally and I have high blood pressure controlled by tablets.
Not lately, but I had those lights even when I was a teenager (I’m 33 now)and I’m pretty sure I didn’t have high blood pressure then…the last time I had it checked it was right around 120/80. Thanks for your concern…I’ll check it next time I think of it just to be sure. Did your doc say the “lights” are related to the high blood pressure?
I can’t say for sure since it happens so infrequently, but I think that this only happens to me maybe once every year or two (if that), so I think it’s more of a cool phenomenon and less of something to worry about, but again, I’ll check out the BP.
Hey I cant tell you anything about the “white lights” but with a blood pressure of 120/80 is fairly healthy, no harm in getting it double checked though right
It could be something stimulating the visual cortex.
I know as a child when I used to cough or sneeze in a dark room I would “see” white flashes.
Maybe something similar to that? It’s probably nothing to worry about, but next time you see your GP/Doc you might want to casually mention it he may know.
I know exactly what you mean I used to have those too. Although I used to have them more when I was a teenager. They would just appear. At first it was a little odd, but then I tried to make them last longer and longer.

I see things out of the corners of my eyes all the time. Not just flashes, but moving things as well. Yeah, kinda creepy. I see spots before my eyes every once in a while if that counts. It’s not really white light, more like stars twinkling. Just like you guys said, I used to be freaked out about it, but now I just like to watch them. Happens in the middle of the day for no apparent reason too, wonder why.
