Can WILD affect when you fall sleep?

For the past 5 nights I’ve tried to WILD. It seems that I can’t sleep after these attempts (I haven’t been succesful yet…). I have no history of sleep problems (however I get out of bed at around 11-3PM) and I used to be able to fall asleep whenever I wanted. I think it could just be something else unrelated to LD’s but I’m just wondering. I used to fall asleep between 11PM-1AM and now I can’t fall asleep until 2:30-4AM. This really affects my WBTB because I just lay down doing nothing for an hour and I have to set my alarm clock ahead even more, it has gotten to 9AM recently. When I get up at this time my family is up, and I have a little brother and sister who are both VERY loud and I would NEVER be able to concentrate when they’re awake. I don’t know what to do anymore! Any :help: ?

I higly doubt it was because of WILD. When I WILD I become so relaxed that a lot of the times I fall asleep without LD . Maybe you’re thinking too much about it or something. :woah:

As miggiyi said, “maybe you’re thinking too much about it.”
Reading your post I just get the feeling that you become a bit stressed by your wild attempts. As you mentioned, you know that you wont be able to concentrate if you dont fall asleep when planned. ( Due to the brother and sister issue. ) My tip would be to not plan for a wild attempt if you dont feel you got enough time. Maybe it is easier to relax if you know you got “all the time in the world” ^^ Atleast that how it works for me, if I know that I need to go to sleep or REALLY want to go to sleep, I usually lose 1-2 hours tossing and turning in my bed. :meh:

Same here. Whenever I need to wake up early the next day I think too much about it and I end up laying there unable to sleep. But lately I have been able to relax and fall asleep easily by calming my mind and relaxing. It feels great when you let go of your thoughts and lay there and feel the warm energy all over your body.

Just to reinforce what everyone else has said, thinking about falling asleep is one of the worst enemies of sleep. The best suggestion I have is to not think about how you need to get to sleep, while you are trying to fall asleep.

If you have trouble relaxing, try meditation or listening to some music. WILD is a difficult technique for many people, so if it causes you that much trouble, perhaps limit your attempts to weekends (or whatever days you can sleep later) so you can get sufficient sleep during the week.

I have also been experimenting with WILD since after eight weeks of dream journal I have only found one occasion recurring theme (the appearance of trains but then again I live near a line) the problem is I have a habit of never falling asleep. And I find that WILD will keep me up all night. However I can consciously decide to give up on WILD and I will fully asleep more easily than if I haven’t tried anything at all.

Unfortunately this does not improve my odds of LDs most of which are vis DILD.

so if you’re not supposed to think about falling asleep what are you supposed to think about that doesn’t keep you awake?
