I have been lucid in my dreams maybe one or two times in my entire life. I would like to know if you just experience dreams vividly in lucid dreams or can you manipulate dream content as per your wish? Has anyone been able to do that or is it not possible?
When you are aware you are dreaming you can manipulate your dreams however you like. The results may be unpredictable but that is part of the fun!

Unfortunately, as buttercup mentioned, it can vary a bit, but yes it can be done. It’s a bit strange however.
So far as I’ve noticed, when you try to manipulate something in your dream, your success is a bit of a dice roll, affected by several factors. The first (and arguably most important) factor is willpower; the thing about LDs seems to me to be that to make something happen, you really have to want it. If you want a red balloon to crop up in front of you, and you really want it, it’s likely to happen. If you’re half-hearted however, or – worse – in doubt that you will succeed, your success rate will go through the floor.
The second factor I’ve noticed seems to be your focus. You can want something as much as you like, but if you can’t concentrate or your dream isn’t lucid enough, you’re stuffed. There’s another factor revolving around this: randomness. When you lose focus on specific things in dreams, that’s when things become inconsistent. Text, the number of fingers you have, and your reflection can all change when you look away and then look back. If you visualise thine red balloon, and then having visualised it, lose focus, you may find that it popped when you weren’t looking, or has floated into the stratosphere.
Randomness also plainly has a part to play in your success as well, and could be considered the “third” factor. Sometimes, it really is just a roll of the dice! Strange things happen in dreams, and there is nothing in the universe so unpredictable as that which is to be found in one’s own brain.
So, to summarise, concentrate, want it to happen, and cross your fingers, and it might just happen!
