cell phones

I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with cell phones as lucidity clues?

A couple of nights ago I checked my phone as a lucidity test. I don’t wear a watch and my phone has a digital time display on it…

So when I looked at it, I could clearly see a phone number (I even remember it was a “530” area code) so I (incorrectly) assumed I was awake.

Has any else had experiences like this? Are cell phones a no-go?

thanks

thats not a bad idea… but I would think there are much better ways to test if your dreaming.

Iv’e actually used my cell phone, sent and recieved messages, and read them , and didn’t see anything unusual… but thats just me,

I guess this could work well for different people.

I once set my cell phone to read “Are you dreaming?” each time I turned it on … but I always left it on so I never seen this messsage much. I also never dreamt of it.

Recently I had a dream of an announcment asking people “Be the first to Call 1-800-free-nintendo to win a free Gamecube!”
I quickly dialed the number, and I decoded the words/numbers up until “Free nin” and I realized the additional charcters were not needed for a 10-digit number.
A lady answered and said I had the wrong number, and so I didn’t win. :frowning:

But I never noticed anything out of the ordinary with my dream cell phone.

If I have a cell phone in a dream it’s always different than the one IRL. It’s usually much more advanced in my dreams and once it contained 40+ games and 50+ cheats for games. I never seem to realise that it’s only a dream phone

Phones should work just fine, you just have to expect the phone to look different in a dream. Or expect it’s clock to show strange numbers.

I have had several FAs where my my phone has “woken me up”. Once I became lucid because the number in the display was simply a “26”. If you use the phone a lot, it can be a good RC. I don’t use a watch IRL, I use my phone instead.

Hm I can’t recall any cell phone events in a dream… I agree with Stranger though: there are probably better, more effective ways perhaps to test your dream reality… But it could be an interesting experiment to try!

interesting. thanks for all the feedback.

maybe I just need to do the double check on the phone.

any suggestions on RC that work well for you all?

Does your cell phone have a calculator?
You could do a RC by trying simple math on the calculator.

Do you have a memo pad in the cell phone?
You could put a simple note in the memo pad and read it when you perform an RC?

pssssst, free Martha!! She’s so hardcore, I love her!

Hi
3 weeks ago I was convinced, that I never use my cell phone in my dreams.
Then I started to read about LD’ing, pay attention to my dreams etc…and I found out that it’s not true and I even use my Vocie mail (I don’t use it IRL) … I didn’t get lucid.
My phone looks always exact the same
I’ve added to my wallpaper (cell phone dispaly) the text: “Are you dreaming ?”
but I’ve never seen it in my dreams.

I rarely see my cell in my dreams. I have only did once a few months ago 9-12-04 and it read “No cellphones allowed in the collusium.” I didnt think anything of it.

For some people certain RC’s just dont work out to well. Instead what I would do is look for a dreamsign [or somthing that happens frequently in a dream], and when you see that IRL do an RC. plug your nose… count fingers… check your watch… Any RC.

Also if you are checking your reality you want to “mean” it. actually question if you are dreaming. Dont just go “cellphone is cool. I am not dreaming” be all like “oh… I think I am dreaming my cellphone looks ok. but what if it isnt. I better look around for somthing out of the ordinary, or do another RC” then preform them carefully. the point of RC’s is to have a RL habit follow into a dream. so if I was to look at my watch every 4 minutes and say “not dreaming” then everytime I look at my watch in my dream I will say “not dreaming”
