Ok, so my friend, who is from Hong Kong but living in England, really wanted to try LDing. I personally have had a few successes with these videos, and was wondering, as he says he thinks and dreams in Chinese (text in his dreams is in Chinese, and DCs speak Chinese), would these (English) subliminal messages work for him? If not, does anyone know of any in Cantonese?

I’d say so, I’m learning Italian and if I hear Ci, I know that means yes in my head in English. It also depends on how fluent your friend is in English as well.
I am a Hong Kong guy, I can help you. He can just translate subliminals to Cantonese, like 我今晚要有個清醒夢 ( I should have a lucid dream this night),or simply 我要發夢( I need to dream)

anyway, even though using your main language should work better, I think if you understand english, suggestions in english should work. I speak portuguese in my daily life, but my dreams have a bit of portuguese and english. I think since everything I read online about LD’s is in english I associate LD’ing with english 
So my MILD mantras are in english and work fine. Maybe it wouldn’t work that great if there’s less fluency in english, like comethecat said, if you need to translate in your head to understand…
