I havn’t been tying to LD for very long (less than a week ) but I’m finding it fairly easy to remember dreams so hopefully im on my way there. At the moment I use the MILD technique, because I am not very good at getting to sleep, never have been and probably never will be. However, I very much like the sound of the WILD technique and being able to slip into a LD state very easily, but like I say can not fall asleep easily. I was wondering if a cross between the MILD and WILD method would work, i.e. try to ‘slip’ into the dream state and if i can’t fall asleep do the MILD method untill i do eventually fall asleep. I havn’t read anything that would suggest that this wouldn’t work aside from it possible making me too concerntrated on LDing. Any help/advice would be appreciated
Well one piece of advice I can give you about WILD is to do it in the early morning after you’ve already slept for a few hours. The reason this works better than trying to have a WILD when first going to bed is because after sleeping for a few hours, you will be able to fall asleep faster, and you will hit REM sleep within about 10 minutes after falling asleep.
yea, the only problem i have with that is i hear you need to have slept for about 6hours prior to waking yourself up with an alarm clock or whatever, then stay awake for an hour before going back to bed, and this is kinda impossible for me as I usually sleep for about 5-6hours per night : / Or does the above only apply to the WBTB method?
Well, an hour is a stretch…you could get away with only staying up for about 15 or 20 minutes
This would still be the WBTB method, and you could use WILD or MILD or even both upon returning to sleep.
Couldn’t he use a dream re-entry tech. so that he doesnt have to get out of bed?
That’d work as well…something like REM re-entry
ok, thanks for the help
Glad we could assist you
