*CLICK* I'm dreaming?

Hello everyone! I’ve been thinking about my “first lucid dream”. I’m still skeptical for how I actually became lucid.

Here’s the story:

I was in my dining room. My vision was on my living room (which is seeable from the dining room IRL), and I saw that things were rearranged in the living room.

Then CLICK I felt like I’m dreaming. I didn’t reality check, I didn’t check my surroundings. Shortly after, I started laughing because of how my dream looked, mainly the living room. Then, I think I lost lucidity because it turned into a ND. The thing is: I never thought about flying or anything else I wanted to do. i just sat there, laughing at my dream. Lazy in my dreams too? Oh boy .

Sooo, how exactly did I know I was lucid? Did I have a low lucid level? Why didn’t I do anything once I was “lucid”? Why can’t I have another one like that :[?

Yeah, sounds like a low LD to me. It’s possible to get lucid for no reason at all. I’ve had many dreams where I just get lucid, without the slightest weird thing happening.

You knew you were dreaming but you probably didn’t fully realize what that implies (that you can do anythig!). I’ve had many of those too  Many times I’m lucid but I’m still limited by the story line and don’t even think simple things like “cut it out, this is my dream!”

That happened to me too. I looked it up, and basically, its an FLD(false lucid dream) . To know if youre having a real lucid dream, I use this technique that involves 3 random words, and if you’re lucid, you say these 3 random words, and you know that youre really in a lucid dream, but if you dont, most likely it was not a lucid dream(or you have a bad memory) So far I have had 2 real LDs with which I used this method, and countless FLD s. You can also tell if its an FLD if after the dream, it seemed hazy or unclear then it was most likely an FLD. Or like mattias said you were having a low level lucid dream. If you find you are having one of these, yell “increase lucidity!”. IT works for me.

This happens to me a lot too. The last time I recall was when I found some large bookcases that curiously appeared in the middle of my bedroom. I was sure I must be dreaming, but everything was so realistic that I had to look for a digital clock to make sure. I stumbled upon a Pitbull resting on my balcony before finding one, and was back in a ND being chased by it before I managed to RC

You must have had a high level of awareness in your dream to have this feeling instinctively. It’s an easy way to get lucid if you can do it  I find it tough to remember what I want to do in LDs. I have to set the intent strongly during the day and before I drift off, so that it is the first thing on my mind when I get lucid. Visualising myself carrying out my goal while lying in bed seems to work best for me.

I had a dream the other night where something really absurd happened and I yelled “Aha! this has to be a dream!” and then went to do a nose RC to check. I wasn’t lucid yet and the RC didn’t work so I stayed in a ND  I depended too much on the RC, instead of trying to look around and think critically…

anyway, I think we’ll get there with practice  I think there’s a whole gradient of levels of awareness between lucidity and non-lucidity (from slight suspicion to FLD’s, to low lucids, etc), and the more we have these dreams where we are there in the middle the better we get at recognizing it, thinking critically and changing it into lucidity.
