Today, my Windows Vista PC was hit with the worst Malware I have ever seen. Install windows for fake programs popped up, my mouse began to malfunction, folders were being deleted. The software was prepared to rape my OS when User Access Control kicked in and asked: “A program needs your permission to continue.” Yes, UAC, the most annoying addition to any Operating System in recent history, saved my Vista. I System Restored and the problem was gone. My wallet almost had a heart attack.
I’ve had to reformat a couple of times due to virus issues, all of them resulting from using my friend’s less-than-secure network back when I was in college.
Um, worst I had was browsing random sites on ie D: and downloading a virus that installed a fake virus scanner. The fake virus scanner promptly said that I had to install this and that; which I did, and a new virus scanner came up saying my old one was a virus. In conclusion five hours later, 12:00-7:00 a.m, I get my computer virus free, and fall asleep in class.
Worst that has happend to me was my Hard disk getting corrupted so bad that it error’d out everytime i tryed to load the PC up. It came down to removing the hard disk, putting it in an external USB reformat it from another PC. Then when I came to use it, it was only 127 GB instead of 150. So my hard disk is actually perm damaged.
Also, my CPU almost melted when it’s fan stopped working, had to replace it :.
Yup i had that exact thing happen to my computer. The first time i didn’t know what the problem was so i paid 200 dollars to have it fixed. The next time it happened i bought my own harddrive for 100.
Once, my hard drive got damaged and I had to get a new one, losing everything.
Another time, my PC got extremely infected by all kinds of malware because of a fake setup program, and it took one hell of an effort to clean up the mess.
Never! Because my dad is very paranoid of these things cause he has direct conections to the main network of many big componys on his computer so he installs all these crazy strong protection programs.
Search for a topic called Browser War and you’ll see how the browsers compare (read: how the existence of IE is totally pointless in this world, how Firefox is the most overrated thing on Earth, and how Opera owns them all).
