Did I do it :D?!!

Hey…first off i wanna thank the whole LD4ALL community, great site, really helps people come together with their techniques, experiences and what ever…

but aside from that this whole post is dealing with what I “THINK” was a LD…

Now I have excellent dream recall, I can clearly remember settings, colours, everything from dreams that have happened literally YEARS ago…Ive known about Astral Projection for a long time, but had no knowledge of LDs, until I had one without knowing what it is, but I got on the internet and finally figured out and I just started practicing LDs at the start of this week and had my first one Last night…I think it was more than one, but thats what im here to ask…

At first I awoke in my bed at like 3 in the morning and looked out my window and I was fully concious, All I saw outside the window in the sky were billions of these black dots, but I paid no attention to it and focused my mind on trying to LD…Now I dont know if that was an LD, but I dont think Its normal for me to wake up look at my window and see millions of black dots in the sky…After these black dots I did some RCs (Or I think I did) and nothing seemed wrong so I put my head back down and woke up again at around 4 or so…this time I was positive it wasnt a lucid dream because I looked out the window and saw nothing but the regular sky, and I did some RCs I was sure of but nothing happened…

Again I dozed off this time I woke up and I was at the bottom of my stairs dressed in all my clothes, I was a little confused but I felt like i was fully concious, As I went up the stairs I saw my cell phone just lying there but I paid no attention, I ran upstairs and looked in my moms room and all of a sudden I saw this HUGE floating fat ballon that looked like a weird lady, I distenctly remember running into my sisters room thinking “OMG THIS IS A LUCID DREAM” I run in and find another HUGE ballon that was floating, then again I remember thinking “THIS MUST BE A LUCID DREAM!!” :cool_laugh: and I rememberd I should try flying so I thought of it and I looked in the mirror and saw my self smiling and floating a bit…but I was WAY too excited :cool_laugh: so it ended shortly before I could fly, but throughout this whole thing I felt as if my body was light as a feather, and when I woke up after this at around 5 in the morning my mind was totally clear, I didnt have ONE thought running through my mind I was just relaxed and taking it easy with a clear concious…

Now Im not sure If this was an LD or just a dream I remember very well, but I felt like I was actually floating and everything and I did try a few methods…So im looking for maybe you guys to help me out a bit?? :eh:

Welcome HarlemWorld!

yeah LD4ALL is great

it is possible to have a FLD or a very low level LD, which doesn’t feel like much. when you’re truly lucid, you’ll know it and feel it. congrats on LD #1!

Thanks…and I hope that this lucid dream will lead to many many more!!..

Hehe nice exciting first LD!

It may all seem a bit confusing now, but once you have gained a little more experience, you’re able to feel the differences between LDs and normal dreams much clearer. Although there will always be a few exceptions ofcourse :content:

Congrats again! And good luck with your future LDing

Thank you very much…I cant wait until I get more experienced and skilled…Is it odd for someone to have their first LD in a few days? and how long does it take, with the correct training of course, for someone to be able to experience LDs to their full extent?

well i’ll tell you that of the 67 + lucid dreams i’ve had this month very few are of what i’d consider an excellent high lucidity nature.

my favorite kind is where I’m not occupied with dream plots and surface goals and caught up in things… but I really just fully and openly appreciate the fact that I’m dreaming and see things from a new and incredible perspective, while still having fun.

I can’t say the last time i’ve had one of that nature, I know it was this dream where I was at school and I wanted to play guitar but I was embarrassed to (everyone had guitars) and my dog was in the class with me… I got lucid in this huge cafeteria and it was quite surreal.

I mean, I am “lucid” in these dreams, they feel special enough to analyze SOME thing and make SOME decisions, but they aren’t the holy grail of high level lucidity.

So, it can take quite a while, it depends on a lot of things, it depends on what you desire to do, it depends on what you think about before you sleep, it depends on what type of person you are, whether you are impulsive, impatient, methodical, it depends upon what kind of person your subconscious seems to be…

For me right now I think with some of the crappy LDs I’ve had (today qualifies) it’s more of a lesson I’m trying to teach myself in order to approach lucidity in a new way that I haven’t done in a while, maybe.

Though, just yesterday I had an amazing flying dream, it wasn’t very high level lucidity, but it was nice, and I appreciated how great it was while I was doing it.

So… it just really depends on you and your mind more than your “skills” I think… you can expect to have a few high level lucidity dreams soon if you keep it up and keep thinking about LDing throughout the day, though. Just be patient and observant of things.

*off topic a bit, but I feel like I should be paying more attention to my NDs and the things that I can’t remember when I wake up, I know there is SO MUCH that I’m missing out on by forgetting about it.
*stupid typos

Yeah, even though im pretty knew at this I totally agree with you…I mean ive done enough reading to realize that your level of lucidity is not ONLY based on how much youve trained(Even though thats very important) but its really how naturally it comes to you…Like me for example…I consider my self to have pretty dream recalls, not that im saying im amazing, but just being able to remember dreams as clear as day from 5-6 years ago I guess arent bad…

Also Ive read many sites in where people have kept journals and have trained for months and months and are just barely starting to lucid dream, and again im not saying im special or more skilled, but all Ive been doing was reading about it since tuesday and I had my first LD already, which is probably very common with people, but this just futher proves that it really depends on your subconcious mind and how you are naturally…

well thats just my two cents atleast

This was definitely a lucid dream in my opinion.

Congratulations

Keep practicing !!! They get much better from here.

How long does it take to have your first lucid dream? No idea.

Since you had your first LD spontaneously (not from any methods) and within a few days, I am guessing that 1) You were very excited about lucid dreaming when you found it (this comes through in your dream too) and that 2) You were reading everything you could get your hands on. This is typical of people who have their first LDs randomly and soon.

You might need to work at it to get more LDs, certainly for “high level” ones. I suggest you browse around here or on the wikibook (second link in my signature) to get some info.

Good luck for all your future LDs.

WOW… if that was your first night knowing about lucid dreams and it was that great… I would say you are a natural LDer… next time plug your nose and breath in… if the air comes through your are dreaming… This usually doesn’t fail like many RCs. THe problem with other RCs like flicking the lights etc is sometimes they works especially in a situation like FA, because even your councious mind can really believe it is real.

I love the FA to the LD… that works wonders and is usually pretty stable. If you get a good RC and it works next time just leap through your window. Don’t open it… just go straight through it. I have had too many hour long LDs after FAs.

I would consider the last of those three to be an LD and the first to just to be FA. I know holy reality knows the difference between LDs and good dreams, so I’m not sure why he calls the good dreams LDs , but you definitely had an LD that last one.

Looks like you have a nack for LDs… good luck and welcome to the forum
