Did I do it right?

Hey guys, this’ll be my first post here as I registered just yesterday (member number 10.000 :wiske:)

I have actually experienced LD earlier without using any methods whatsoever. That’s why I came here in the first place. Yesterday I decided to give WILD a chance. So I printed your page about WILD, read through it and tried to pull it through. I started with the relaxation, and repeated that a couple of times.

After that, like 3-4 minutes later, I tried to start counting. When I came to 12 I started feeling funny. It felt like I was spinning around, and my right leg went all numb. It kept on going and I started hearing, well, dunno how to explain this… very low yells (yelled by people I know. Not scary or anything, totally sensable things). Then it all started spinning even faster, and the numbness was spreading upwards. Then my heart started beating really fast, so I opened my eyes again, and all the swirling, numbness and voices went away.

Was this the start of a LD? I tried doing it again a couple of times afterwards, but I was too excited to relax I think, so I just gave up and fell asleep, determined to try it again later. Amd when I got up today and checked my mail, I remembered that I had registered here, but I had to leave of to school and work (phew, long days atm here in Norway). But now I’m home and eager to know if it was the start of a LD, or my body going totally psycho over something.

Thanks for the PM’s btw

Congratulations for being member 10,000

And what you described sounded like the start of an OBEE (Out of Body Experience) or WILD (Wake Induced Lucid Dream). Your heart wasn’t really beating fast; it just felt like it. It’s a very common feeling.
The sounds you heard were hypnagogic, and they also indicate that you were close at getting lucid

It seems like you had an easy time doing what you did, and that’s great
Just keep up with what you do, and please, tell us how it goes

Was that really your first try and WILD? If so, I have to say, I’m impressed.

You were indeed on your way to an LD. You may not have quite made it, even if you hadn’t opened your eyes, but the hallucinations you described are common indicators that WILD is coming into play.

Your body was falling asleep, but you were keeping your mind awake. This is what caused the hallucinations (hearing things, feeling as though you were spinning around, etc.).

Eventually, you may have found yourself in SP, and been unable to move, along with more vivid hallucinations. This can scare some people, but given your reaction to the voices you heard, I imagine wouldn’t bother you.

Eventually, you’d have found yourself in the middle of a dream, aware that you are dreaming (and thus, lucid).

I’d say keep practicing WILD. You seem to be quite good at it.
