Hi all. I have seen the post from 9gag.com about LD, but didn’t try it immediately. I ended up doing some research, and found this site. After doing some reading, I went and tried it a few nights ago when I was really tired. I got pretty far, but no luck. I tried the next night, and got into REM, but that quickly ended. I did not think of it as a failure, but as a milestone. I ended up having a nap a few hours ago,( I had also tried previously WBTB, and learned that napping is also a very good time to try), and got into REM, and felt weightless, but I swallowed( I get a dry mouth every time) and ruined it. After that attempt, I did more reading on here and read that for beginners, I should try mantras or DILD. So, if someone could provide insight on what I should do or how to overcome my dry mouth distraction (which if I could get pass I might get into LD), that would be awesome. Sorry for a long read.
Drink water. It’ll keep your mouth from getting dry and Help ensure a wbtb bathroom break
Have you tried the ld4all Guide? (ld4all.com/guide.html) That has the basis of many LD techniques. As a beginner, it may be better to try some easier techniques in addition to what you’re doing. Also, make sure you’re doing WBTB if you’re going to try WILD. (definitions in the Guide)
As for having a dry mouth, be sure that you are well hydrated before bed, and if you need to, keep a glass of water beside you at night. Also, it is perfectly alright to swallow as long as you are not thinking too much about it. Just let your body swallow naturally. However, if you make too much of a big deal about it, it can upset the process. Then again, not swallowing when you need to is just as bad as making a big deal out of swallowing during WILD. So make sure you do when you need to, but just do it without thinking too much into it.
