my grandpa died a few years ago from cancer, and i still havent visited his grave site. my mom and sis and grandma go about once a month. for some reason i dont never want to go… but anyway i had a dream were my grandpa who died of cancer visited in my dream. i seen him clear as day. he was wearing black. i said woah, how are you doing? i havent seen you in a long time…he replied hes doing god. i gave him a hug then i said ill see you later and went on my way…
it was crazy… and for some reason the past few dreams have been about death or somebody dying in my dreams…
do they visit your dreams?
Yes.
For me I sometimes have a dead family member or pet visiting in a dream. A few nights ago I even had a very vivid one of my grandfather .
I have a rather odd story about seeing my cat in a dream. Now, Molly disappeared a couple years ago. She was 21 and had accumulated quite a few health problems by this point (nothing serious enough that she had to be put down, but we’d known for ages that she didn’t have much time left), so we all assumed she had known it was her time to go and had gone off somewhere to die alone, as cats sometimes do.
I had a dream, probably sometime within the next year, that I’d found her and she was still alive. In addition to that, since she’d disappeared, she’d had kittens, AND her kittens had grown up!
Yeah… my spayed, 21-year-old cat somehow had kittens! Imagine that!
Then I was sad when I woke up because she wasn’t alive.
I also briefly saw my granddad in a dream a month or so ago, but I thought the dream about Molly was far more interesting to share.
Not a family member, but a friend of mine who died in a car accident years ago constantly shows up in my dreams.
In the dreams I never consciously remember that she’s actually deceased, but I must remember on a subconscious level because very frequently I will somehow lose her in the dream. Either we get separated, or she dies, or someone is after her, etc.
I remember one dream in particular she was cold for most of it. I had given her my coat or jacket but she couldn’t warm up. It was only when I woke up I realized what that was about - she was cold because my mind knew she wasn’t alive, and that was it’s way of trying to clue me in.
Not lost family members that mean a lot to me yet, but one friend who passed away four years ago occasionaly visits my dreams and guides me on my life and some other times my dead cats have visited the dreams, those dreams are wierd
Let me play the devil’s advocate for a second here. How can you know it isn’t your mind playing tricks on you, its attachment to certain people or animals making them show up in your dreams like your attachment to anything else?
Or, you do know?
Yes, sometimes my deceased grandpa randomly appears in my dreams. Mostly he is just a minor character, but I’ve had a few dreams where he played a big role. In one there was a DC who was supposed to be his (non-existent) brother and he had exactly the same voice as my grandfather. I was close to crying during the dream and incredibly happy when I woke up. His appearance made me lucid at least twice, too.
@The Nameless One: I don’t think that it is their spirit/soul or whatever that really visits me, to me they are DCs like everythign else in a dream, I agree with what you said about the attachment. However, that doesn’t make those dreams any less meaningful or interesting.
I often try and call out and find lost ones when lucid, not to see their ‘spirit’ as Im not entirely sure I believe that, nevermind believe it when dreaming, but just to see how my mind portrays them. Once I called for my Granda (who I regularly see in my dreams) and he came over, but I knew straight away it was an imposter in my grandas body… strange huh.
Considering that our interpersonal connections and attachments transcend space and time, I do believe we can be visited by the departed. I have had many dream encounters with my father and other deceased people, and have noticed a few differences over the years between the dreams featuring my father in a symbolic manner, and what I feel are actual encounters. My father’s appearance, and modes of communication, would change over time. I’m happy to go into detail if asked.
Robert Moss writes a fair bit about this - you might find some relevant information in his work that can help you discern. See this article if you’re interested: blog.beliefnet.com/dreamgates/20 … the-worlds. html

One of my LDs was caused by my deceased dad. I don’t think it was really him as by now I’m about his hight but in the dream when I hugged him I was considerably shorter, so it was probably a memory brought up by the dream, but that doesn’t make it any less comforting.
Yes, I have seen my brother on numerous occasions sometimes lucid and sometimes not.
The first time was shortly after his death and I was lucid, I tried to explain to him that he was dead and needs to move on. A few days later I had another lucid with him in it, this time he told me he had moved on and he even showed me around the afterlife, which was more like being on an astral plane. Other times I’ve had dreams where its been like he never died and everything was completely normal.
Yes i experienced it twice as per my experience whenever before sleeping i think about dead persons they come in my dreams…
