Does anyone care? (or truly believe)

Um this area here is lacking with stuff about Dec 22, 2012. (I personly don’t believe, but that is for another thread, which would be very interesting  ) If anyone out there truly believes the Mayans are some supernatural race , then does anyone care. If the world was going to end in 5 years then why is there such a “so what” attitude from the LD4all comunity. Is it just that disturbing, that you won’t post actually about the event?

Eh, i somewhat THINK it MAY happen. I mostly don’t though because think about. People have been guessing when the world will end for more than like 200 years. And we’re still here, HELLO!

But then again…Idians are smart beings in my opinion. They might be right about this.

It’s out of my control, and so I don’t really care, beyond attempting to live life to it’s fullest, which I am, and will continue to do. No sense letting something out of my control bug me, that’s just stupid.

it isn’t all focused on that date but mainly on learning about the calendar itself. if it was just a ‘doomsday forum’ do you really think it would have been made???
learning about the dreamspell and the 13 moon calendar is fun. Finding out about your own galactic signature is interesting.

Of the ones I know, LDers are quite passive people. :hugs: If we’re all cosmically uplifted, great! If we’re all killed, nothing we can do, right? If nothing happens, oh well. LDers are all about living in the moment (or past lives/ SG if you’re into that), enjoying life to its fullest.

And to branch off of Moogle’s comment, we’re talking about the Mayan calender. Random theories are going to pop up about ANY extinct, apparently enlightened, society.

STEREOTYPE ALERT!!! Be careful when I first joined I thought everyone on LD4all was a exsesive videogame player/fantasy junky/spiritual buda type dude… Whel it turned out i was wrong

I think Chuckiferd that the lesson we take from that realisation is that one belief/inspiration/idea can be common to people with diferrent approaches of Life (Agnostics, Atheists, Christians, New Agers e.t.c.) But anyway the comparisons of their opinion to a specific matter can be very interesting and somehow enlighten our thought more than to hear the same aspect from every single member of this forum.
However if someone feels the need to discuss paranormal stuff without having to reply to people that doubt their existence, i believe there are plenty of members for that conversation. Just he might have put in front of the topic the request: “Please participate only those who believe in paranormal activities” :content: I am sure that the non-believers will respect that!

No I was just asking, “Why isn’t there more talking about doomsday” If you believe that the end of the world is comming in 5 years, wouldn’t you think that people would be more talkive about it since it would probaly rank 1 on my list of important things to thing about (if I believed it). Plus I would also like to argue about the whole Mayan calandar thing, there is a lot of “scientific” proof behind it that was falsified and people have gone to jail

I agree

people said that the world would end on the new years of 2000. people thought that all the electricty would go out, and stuff.

then people said that we would all die on 6/6/06
WRONG!

so, i’m not thinking that anything would happen.

I wouldn’t doubt it, i mean i believe it. I wrote the date on my wall and my mom keeps asking me why. And when i tell her she thinks it’s all nonsense.

This is different though, it wasn’t thought up by some random, paranoid theoriest. It was by the Maya, a very spiritual and mystical civilization who were to smart for their own good.

I just see 12-22-2012 as any other one of those “end of the world dates”

some websites say the date is 12-21-2012.

Im not sure which one is right.

Yeah, then we run into the simple yet horribly confusing problem of date notation. A lot of people write it day/month/year, while others write it month/day/year. (my British math teacher keeps telling us the American way is wrong. )

And I kinda laughed at the whole 6-6-6 thing. Mostly because the western calender has changed a lot since “0 CE”

well, its simple , most here DON’T believe in this stuff , its here beacause some do and find is fascinating , just my assumption…

There is probably a ‘So what’ attitude mainly because many of us don’t believe it. Also it is out of our power to change it.

Also why do people think the Mayans predicted the world was going to end on 21-12-1012 (I forgot) ?

because the calender ends at this date (was it that ? ) also , are you following me or something ?

2012 is just the end of a large cycle of years in the mayan calendar. Somthing could happen…

but, we will just have to wait five more years to figure out what that date means.

Here is another topic about the same thing.

My priest said a sermon today pertaining to this, he stated that all people athiest or not, talk about doomsday around the end of the Liturgical year.

You know, they could have just stopped writing it. Check you’re mobile’s calendar, does it go on forever? No, it ends at a random year (mine stops at 2098). It doesnt mean the world will end or something, they were just unable to continue the calendar for whatever reasons.

in the case of mobile phones… why go on in doing it knowing that it will break long before that? In the cas of maya… why not having some other guy finishing it up in 500 years or so?.. I just wonder what happens if the world ends in 2011… or in 2013 when everyone has gone like “Phew… that sounded close”

Hehe that would be quite funny actualy - in a strange ironic sad way. Oh well, we’ll just have to wait and see, wont we? Ainstain said the world will end on 2060
