I tried to do a wild last night…but after a while, it felt like my whole body went numb (so numb I could barely feel myself breathing) and I just stayed like that and it felt like I wasn’t making any more progress… is this normal? And if it is, is there a way to get past this? Or do I just have to wait through it?
I’ve seen people say the best way to do a WILD is to mix it with a WTBT(or whatever the acronym is), but I want to try and get it so I can do a WILD without going to sleep, then waking up.
Well if you do try WILD without WTBT then it can take like 90 minutes before you actually reach the paralysed state. So it will feel like you aren’t making progress, but your body is falling asleep. There isn’t really a way to get past this, you could try counting (90 minutes is 5400 seconds ) or the best way is to visualise a dream scenario in your mind.
If you haven’t done WTBT before than I would suggest you try that sometime, it will not take 90 minutes but more like 30 with WBTB to reach SP.
I hope this helps you (or that what I’m saying is right).
That helped a lot. I can deal with sitting there for 90 minutes without doing anything, it’s just not knowing if I’m getting anywhere that messes with me. Should be pretty easy, since last night I could barely feel any part of my body (even when I got one of those annoying itches that randomly pop up, I could barely feel it, so it didn’t bother me to much if I moved my concentration to something else). I sat there for a good 30min and then fell asleep, and then my cousin came into the house (I was laying down on the couch next to the door) and woke me up. After that I lasted a little bit longer, but still didn’t feel like I got anywhere, so I got up and got back on the computer.
Additionally, it is incredibly hard to remain awake during this time because your body passes through deep sleep. As the name implies it is nigh on immpossible to stay awake in this stage; so frequently you lay there for a while and then just end up falling asleep. For that reason I’d recommend WILD always be done with a nap or WBTB. I’d say my WILD success rate without WBTB is probably 10% or less, but with WBTB it is close to 95%.
I so far have had no succes with WBTB, most likely due to the fact it was too bright and I just wasn’t getting into it. But after a period of practicing WILD at night I believe I have gained the neccesary experience in relaxation and knowledge to progress. I do not really mind the wait at night either, and in fact find it quite easy to do. It’s just the stepping through after that.
But regardless, it is recommended by alot of people to practice WILD with WBTB. In my case I have to practice the WBTB at an extremely early point at night due to the fact if there’s even a slight bit of light I can’t concentrate.
