It’s possible to have a lot of control in a dream without being lucid, the member who comes to mind that experiences this is stormthunder.
To be lucid means that you are fully aware it is a dream and you are dreaming.
Yeah it is very possible. I have had that before, because I never knew that Lucid dreaming existed and that’s when I began to wonder about Lucid dreaming. & even though I know they exist now, I still have dreams like you were talking about.
I replied to something similar not too long ago, someone asking what you can do without being lucid.
But being lucid isn’t a requirement at all. Though I’ve been a natural lucid dreamer, I’ve had so many nice normal dreams too. If I have a pre-sleep intention, it may very well be fufilled without ever going lucid. the mind is just that amazing.
Before coming accross this site, I used to spontaneously control my dreams, without really knowing I was. there was no lucid moment, but even in dreams I tend to stay pretty clear thinking…most of the time Its fun!
I usually have a level of control over my normal dreams, like being able to change facts of the dream that I dislike. It’s like I’m shooting a movie, and I can reenact a scene if I don’t like how it turns out, but I’m never lucid in these, it’s like my subconscious.
Pretty weird, but cool.
I had one this morning… It’s like I was dreaming that I was having a LD. Hard to explain if you haven’t had one. There isn’t that “click I’m dreaming” in your mind… but it can be very fun too!
Yes, you can be controlling a dream without knowing it. I did use a method to control my dream while awake, but only to become what I wanted, but that was really the only use XD and it didn’t work how i wanted.
Ok so… I am very new to all of this, and I just woke up so sorry for any typos. So I normally sleep in on weekends, and when I woke up at my regular school time, I decided to go back to sleep, but couldn’t really think of any of the strategies. So I did what I could remember which was tell myself that i’m dreaming before I go to sleep. Now I had this same feeling that I could control my dream, but maybe I wasn’t lucid. I remember feeling like I could feel my real body in my bed, but was still in my dream. I also remember telling myself “i’m going to remember this when I wake up” That’s why I think that I was lucid… So confusing! I think I would remember a lot more vividly if I had better dream recall, because it’s all kind of fuzzy now.
Basically, I was in a field, which was being bombed (by Saddam Hussein no less - it was just after the Iraq invasion) and I just felt that I wouldn’t stand for this and make it end up like the usual nightmare so I transformed into a superhero. I didn’t do anything especially superhero-ish but I did wear superhero clothes.
I do remember that just before I became a superhero I did realise I could do whatever I wanted, as it was a dream.
I think it was a fluke, though it’s quite nice to talk about, eh?
Anyway, it was so long ago, I don’t know about all the conditions
