Doors, not behaving how I expected:(

I read in various places on this site about how doors can change the scene in lucid dreams, like i go up to a closed door, and tell myself what i want to there to be on the other side, and when i open it, its there, but it didnt work:(
any tips?
this is my expirience of it today (1st ld for a few months  )
I appear in my bedroom, not a false awakening though, i am standing,
At this point in am not aware if i am awake or dreaming, just a sort of… dead state.
Walking over to the door, and then through the hallway to the other door, I open it and drift in,
For no apparent reason i climb onto the bed and then I noticed it, asif my magic I knew i was dreaming.
Next I rubbed my hands together (first ever time trying this) to keep my lucidity, which worked,
I came out of the room, ran down stairs (Although I dont actually remember feeling the steps under my feet, I might have just glided down but remember as running) and into the next room of my house, looking out of the window I saw people outside playing football (soccer) in the park,
It was very sunny outside.
i turned around and went out of the room, thinking of what I wanted to do next i went down the steps to the ground floor of my house, i opened my front door and looked out because it seemed my parents were outside, i couldnt see them because a truck had parked infront of my door, i could hear them though, i closed the door, rubbed my hands together and when up to the stairs again, i started to think what i wanted to do with my remaining time in the dream, i knew it was coming to a close, so i decided i wanted to meet someone who i have been meaning to talk to in RL, but first i thought i should try to prolong the dream, remembering some techniques i shouted “REAL TIME SLOW… REAL TIME FREEZE!!!” and nothing happened, so i went back to making this person appear, i expected her to be around the next corner, she wasnt there, so i thought “hmm, how else could i make her appear” then thought of the closed door portal stuff, so i went to the nearest closed door in my house, and said to myself, “her house will be on the other side” and opened it, but it didnt work, the room was just on the other side. so thats when my lucidity started going, i tried rubbing my hands together but it didnt work this time, its a shame i never looked at my hands because in a previous LD when i did, i had 50 fingers, and that would definately have pulled me back into the dream. but i needed to get up because i was bursting for the toilet lol.

50 fingers? lol  Now that’s what I’d call a dreamsign

Experiments like these often require a rather flexible mind: you need to do something you can’t possibly achieve irl, so mentally you need to be able to throw off the heavy cloak of associations and expectations with waking life. This ain’t easy, especially in the beginning, but the more you practice, the more experience you gain, the more pieces of that cloak you can throw off. In the end, you should be able to enter the LD, empty your mind, and fill it with the boundless parameters of the dream mind. Once you can do that, you’re able to do anything…
Now, back to your question. As you can guess, a possible answer is… to practice as much as you can. And have patience ofcourse, because it takes time to develop the skill.
You could also enforce your intention of seeing whatever you expect to see when opening that door. Combine it with a strong visualization of the person/situation/object/landscape you wish to discover behind the door.
Something else you might try (although this too requires a flexible mind): if you can’t find the door which will lead you towards her, why not creating the perfect door by yourself? Repeat to yourself that you have magic fingers. You are the magician from your dream, and you have the power to alter things as you like. After that, hold your two forefingers in the air above you, and slowly draw a door (a simple rectangle should be enough) in the air, until both fingers touch the ground. While doing this, repeat that you can put your magic powers into practice. Almost will this door to appear. Also knów this door is the one door which will open everything you wish to see. With a bit of luck, it will work with this door. At least, this is how I finally entered the Lucid Crossroads, because all the other doors failed to work

Good luck!

wow.
thanks for explaining it so well to me
infact its inspired me to lucid dream even more:)
i will have a go at this in the next ld i have, thanks again
