DR stage while attempting to LD?

Hey everyone. I’m Exige. New to the forum…

And well, I was wondering if it is suggested to attempt dream recall until I can recall at least 1 per night and THEN try an LD technique, or should I try to do dream recall AND practice LD techniques before I sleep?

That was worded a bit weird, but you don’t do dream recall. It either comes to you or not, given your situation that night. To answer your question, it generally is a good idea to be able to remember at least 1 - 3 dreams per night, because if you can’t and you start trying to lucid dream, how will you remember whether or not you had one?

There are many things that can improve dream recall, one of which is nearly essential, and that is keeping a dream journal. I urge you to write it down in an actualy journal too, for that usually makes it more concrete. You’d be surprised at how much dream recall boosts after you start writing dreams down, it’s actually really weird, lol. Another good thing to do is obviously get enough sleep. Enough sleep is anywhere from 7 - 10 hours for me at least, but I bet that would be a good time zone for anybody.

To add on to those suggestions, you could also use the MILD technique not for lucid dreams, but for your dream recall itself. By this I mean simply repeat over and over, “I will remember my dreams after I wake up,” or something like that.

Hopefully that helps!

I think I’ll focus intently on dream recall for now. Thanks for the advice!

Hey no problem; I’m glad it helped!

BTW welcome to the forum! Not really good timing, seeing as how the “real” forum is inaccessible, but at least you found it.

i started with 2-3 dreams a week and after 2 weeks of dream jurnaling i am up tu 1-5 drams every night… just dont stress it, dont think like I must have a good recall… and dont worry if you dont get it right away…

at one point i had 3 days in a row with 0 dreams and it freeked me out and i thought about it all the time and no dreams… then i just said to my self: “ok life is long, you will get plenty dreams, dont force it and just write them down when they come…” and after that BINGO… as all things with your brain dont force yourself to it, let yourself to it… good luck!

yeah, we can’t force our brains to do stuff, we must cooperate with our brains!
