Dream Jounraling Details

As you may already know, recording many details of your dreams in your DJ will increase dream vividness. Well… Your brain makes connections all the time, and eventually, those connections made are re-written a little every time you think about that particular instance again. Therefore, for people who don’t have good dream recall, or people who want to increase dream vividness even more, couldn’t you just write MANY oddly specific details that you didn’t encounter in hopes that your mind will make false connections to those things to have more vivid dreams? If you were to consistently read your DJ every other day or so, wouldn’t your brain begin to identify these false statements as true?

You could record things like taste, touch, smell, sight, and sound.

On Rathez’s topic about LD for beginners, he compares DJ to body building. Maybe this technique could be the equivalent to steroids to REALLY give you that extra edge?

I don’t know… It could also be counterproductive. If you get in the habit of making up details, you might start to pay less attention to real details, because you can just make up a bunch like you usually do. It takes effort to recall details in the morning. If you never put in that effort, why would your recall get better?

Patricia Garfield points out to be careful not to make up or fill in blanks when you are recording dreams

This would not work.
The idea behind journaling dreams is to get your brain to recognize how important it is to recall those details. All making things up would do would make you better at fantasizing. It would have nothing to do with recollection, and therefore would not aid you in that sense.
