dream journal

I have been keeping a dream journal for about 1-2 months because my dream recal was terrible…really bad…:smile: so i focused on my dream recal. I have looked back and cant really see any improvements…I realise that if i dont increase my DR i cant remember or experience lucid dreams. Is there any really effective way of improving dream recal because the dream journal seems to be having litttle effect. thankyou

How many dreams do you recall in a week? IMO, the best and most effective way of quickly improving dream recall is autosuggestion: once you’re in bed and relaxed, repeat mentally (for instance 20 times) “Tomorrow morning, I’ll remember my dreams” before you go to sleep.

Yes, autosuggestion works great, but only if you keep doing it, every night (it may take a few days before you actually see some good results). You may also practice it during the day. Repeat to yourself that you WILL remember your dreams. Really feel your intention and the expectation of remembering your dreams… don’t just repeat it automatically. That’s REALLY important here, because the message must have enough power to enter your subconsciousness so it may have some effect.

ok thankyou for your help! :smile: i think that it must be the lack of autosuggestion then. I have been using it before i go to sleep but maybe that’s not enough. I will try doing it during the day as well :happy: um, I usually have a sort of pattern in the way i remember dreams, it is usually, like a couple of days without remembering them, then acouple of days remembering them. I really wanted to increase my DR because i am absolutely terrible at doing it so now ive been trying ot improve it with the DJ (obviously). On average its about 2-3 dreams a week i remember? :sad:

Try doing WBTB. It’s not perfect, but it can increase your chances of remembering more dreams.

Also, in the morning when you wake up, spend a couple of minutes just trying to remember your dreams (try and not let your mind wander). Try thinking back to the last thoughts going through your mind.

If you get no where with that, just think a bunch of random words in the hope of it jogging a memory.

If that fails, then just shrug and go about your day. There is always the chance that you may suddenly remember a dream later in the day.

yeh thanks…I do find that during the day something happens and i am reminded, and suddenly i remember a dream i have had. I guess it will come in time :smile:

well i can see an im provement :smile:over the past few days ive remembered quite a lot :happy:

Good to hear you’re making some progress! Now it’s important to hold on to it and keep practicing. Good luck with that :happy:

I’d say you need to remember at least one dream each night, so you can at least have an idea on whether you were lucid each night. Luckily LDs are usually easier to remember than regular dreams :smile: But it’s always nicer to have a decent dream recall if you had an LD, so you can remember more details to reconstruct it.

How exactly does having good DR effect your ability of having a LD?

When you have a LD you’ll want to remember it when you wake up. If you had bad DR you would most likely not remember your LD and thus not know that you had a LD.

therefore, I wish to improve my DR in order to remember any lucid dreams I might have! :smile: but being able to remember dreams, also means that you are being more aware of what is happening inside oyur head while you are physically unconcious
