Don’t stress out too much about recall. Every morning, just write down what you remember before you get up. If you can’t recall squat, no problem. Eventually things will make a turn for the better if you don’t worry too much about it.
I really need to work on my dream recall. I might try not stressing about it either. Just act calm.
Yes, don’t overdo it, don’t push it because it can have the opposite effect. It’s also about believing and knowing: if you practice all day long to remember some dreams, you really wish to believe that this is exactly what will happen the next morning, and perhaps you truly believe it. But I think the big key to dream recall and also LDs (and many other things in life ) is to KNOW that you will succeed. If you truly know that you’ll remember your dreams, you’ll be much calmer and not so obsessed anymore with practice, because you know it will be alright in the end. The process from believing to knowing is a difficult one, but I think it really makes a difference. If you know, you’ll have convinced your subconsciousness of your knowledge, and it will act out that way. If you believe, you’ll have given a strong desire to your subconsciousness without actually convincing it… it still remains uncertain about the outcome, thus making it harder to get consistent results.
In short, I’d also advice to stay calm, and to imagine to yourself how you’ll wake up in the morning, remembering crystal clear dreams and writing them all down in your diary. Try to see that this imagination is what will actually happen. Try to feel the excitement of remembering all those dreams. I don’t know if it will actually work, but it works for me if I put some effort in it
