dream related careers?

Wondering if anyone here can help me out with some ideas for possible jobs or careers somehow related to dreaming. I was talking to a buddy the other day who works in a sleep lab, and while that doesn’t directly relate to dreaming, it sounded very interesting. And it got me thinking, there’s got to be some similar opportunities that are more closely related to dreaming.

Does anyone work in a related field or know someone who does? Any info at all is appreciated. Thanks.-Bradu

Hmm I would like to know this aswell. I would assume somthing like a dream therapist? Like those people in dreamscape the movie.

lol, I’m from Oregon too. Ironic.

I guess psychology is the most obvious one that comes to mind. Especially psychologists dealing with trauma or post-traumatic stress, things that give people nightmares and such.

There have been people who set up “vacations” of sorts where you pay to have a one week crash course in lucid dreaming. You all sorts of machines and what not to make it a lot easier. You could always start one of those, make teaching and experiancing LD your life.

you could sell LD merchedice?

If you want to learn about the psychological (Freud - Jung - Perls and other) approach to dreaming, you should choose psychology. But if you’d like to know more about the brain chemistry of dreams and sleep, I think you should go for biomedicine, option neurosciences (perhaps with further specialization - sleep sciences or oneirology, the study of dreams).

This is the main reason I’m taking up psychogly at school, the problem is when I say I want to do dream psychology everyone assumes I mean dream interperetation, which I don’t belive in. (at least not the blanket version they have in books) Although if you’re at the point where you are looking at what corses to do, don’t limit yourself just to dreaming as it might not work out, I have psychology as a whole and law to fall back on.

Ooh, I just thought of another one. A newspaper or magazine columnist who professionally interprets dreams that readers send in. They have one in our local newspaper once a week… could be a good source of part-time work!

I wouldn’t mind getting paid to sleep  im pretty good at it!

What’s very sad is that I’d have to be drugged in order to get to sleep. (dang insomnia) Once I’m gone though, I’m out like a light! :cool_laugh:
