Dreams that Fade to Thought

Often, when I am lying in bed tired, I will start dreaming immediately—but unfortunately, they are only in thought form. An event or scene from the previous day might manifest, and then play itself out, for example. This is the only time I experience automatic thinking, except in actual dreams.

However, after a breif lucid dream a few days ago, I awoke when the dream [i]actually morphed into a thought[i]. I suspect this is the core of WILD, a method which I haven’t put to use.

Since my RC’s are bearing little fruit, I am now looking into this method as a supplement.

Others have said that WILD’s require an interruption of REM sleep, and this makes since. But I don’t know much else.

I am also wondering if turning off an alarm and sitting up to record a dream will prevent me from drifting back into it. This would be a major problem.

Thank you.

This is how all my WILDS start. The trick is to let it fully form into a dream without losing consciousness. I usually focus on a part of the scene, for example a road or path, and at some moment the scene will be “around” me instead of “in front of” me.

Re-entry or DEILD can be a very powerful technique. It is basically drifting consciously into a new dream directly after waking up. This was how I got my very first LD.

Really? That’s interesting. I’ve also noticed that I cannot go into auto-think mode on demand.

Is it possible to WILD in a non-REM state?

EDIT: Would it be possible to WBTB after one lucid dream ends, re-entering the dream, or perhaps a new dream?
