This is just something I’ve noticed in my lucid dreams (I’ve only had a few in the past several months, but this trend runs through all of them)… they seem to end when I reach a certain point of emotion, be it happyness or anger or excitment of any sort… they just drop off. So I have to be extremely careful it seems in order to keep my dreams in tact as long as possible. It kinda kills the fun in it though…
Anyone else have this or know why this might be or how to remedy it, etc?
Well…it seems like you have convinced yourself that every LD you will wake up because of this issue… My advice: just forget about the emotions. When you are in a LD, keep yourself occupied and don’t worry about waking up. I find that if you think something will wake you up, 99% of the time, it will…
I myself have a similar problem. For some reason in a lot of my LDs, I keep thinking about the dream ending and what I should try and do before that happens…which makes me rush things and panic because I don’t want to wake up yet…but I do anyways. lol.
Yes I would agree, in ND’s what is going on in your life has a big impact on the dream, and I would suppect that would also hold true for LD’s. I know that I havn’t had nighmares for years and years, ( Too bad, People say they are great for getting lucid ) and in my life, it has been years and years since I have had any big problems that I thought I couldn’t solve. Your dreams are made up in your head, so if you convence yourself that “this or that” will not work, then it will not. That also happens a lot in RL. People convence themselves that they can’t do someting, so they never try it. Sometimes it happens when they try something and it doesn’t work right away, or it goes very bad. You just need to work on it and try to figure out why you wake up when the emotions get to that point. This could be something that could help you out IRL if you can solve it in your dreams.

I would give you the same advice Ben would. Just forget about the trend of the past and enjoy your LD regardless. If you believe that the emotions will end your dream, they will. Don’t let the placebo affect take a negative toll on your lucid dreams. Just enjoy them.
Maybe the problem is not so much that emotions kill your lucid dreams, but that becoming lost in your emotions and losing touch with your self-awareness allows the lucidity to slip away.
