Escalator Vivitity

Hey!

It was the morning after Christmas and I was still pretty tired, even with 8 hours sleep. After staying up for about 6 and a half hours I decided to go to sleep for a while. I ended up sleeping for heaps long, but that’s besides the point here…

When I first went to sleep I had the intention of performing WILD, but I barely tried because I was so tired. Soon later (probably only 10+ minutes later) I was in a Dream! I was walking in a shopping center with people all around me. I was passing by one person and I noticed that I had seen his face before, somewhere… I believe this person is actually an Actor from a movie I recently watched.

I then went on an Escalator and as I was going up it when I noticed an old teacher of mine who was looking at me (also on the Escalator just higher up on it), giving me a weird, almost disappointed look. I thought to myself that I better look away and when I looked back up again the teacher was gone!

I thought… hang on this is just too strange, people don’t just disappear! And I realised that I was dreaming! At that moment all I could think about was how clear the dream was (almost life-like this time), and as I grabbed the Escalator handles in excitement, noticing the people ahead of me as I still headed up the Escalator I remembered to try and take a Lucid Pill. So, I looked at my right hand and thought that when I open it there will be a Lucid Pill. My hand slowly opened and there it was…

The problem is… I didn’t know how to move my arm. I managed to make my hand open, but I suppose i’m not entirely sure how to move my body in dreams yet. Anyone know how to do this? I’m thinking perhaps you just try and move your normal body, as you would IRL and instead of moving your sleeping body you will move your dream body instead… except, I managed to open my hand with just an intention to do so.

Anyway after I couldn’t move my arm to take the Lucid Pill I wound up waking up, being pulled out of the dream. I was quite annoyed and the next time I woke up I had been sleeping for 5 or more hours with no good memory of the dream(s).

Congrats
ya weird you coudlnt move your arm.
In all of my LD’s ive kidna of just moved without thinking about, just as you do in real life. If i want to walk 10 feet in real life, im not going to say to myself “alright now pick up your left foot, slowly move it forward…”
the same thing should apply to the dream world
just DO it. ha. i dont want to say dont think about it because thats how you lose lucidity, so dont overanalyze it. Its just like reality, only not.

Hmm, the thing is I keep getting worried that if I try to move my body i’ll end up moving my real body and wake up! Do you think that could actually happen? Or, would sleep paralysis stop that so long as I remain in the dream?

Sleep paralysis keeps your real body from moving. You do what you’d do in real life. Ofcourse in real life you move just by intention. I think that since you worried that you would move in real life kept you from moving in the dream. It’s the same nerves that are active when you move your dream arm as when you movie your physical arm. just do it.

I’ve never had any problems moving in dreams O_o Just move like you always would

I guess that a bit of SP has found you in dream… Nothing to worry about, that happens, mostly in nightmares (those dreams where something is chasing you and you cannot run :scared: ! ). I had SP trouble bit like this not-so-far-ago. I couldnt talk, my mouth was in SP. :uh: Anyways, it dont happens now. Maybe you should use telekinesis to take that pill ?

Well now I finally know about moving in a dream, all I have to do now is get another chance to test it. That shall be fun… I hope my next Lucid Dream is as clear as this one was! I think i’m going to try taking a nap a little later on, so as to try and do a WILD attempt. It seems for me that when I do a WILD I end up falling asleep and having a DILD because of it, which is fine anyway.

hehe… next time if I cannot move my arm i’ll imagine it being in my mouth then all I have to do is try to swallow!

–When I woke up this morning I closed my eyes testing to see if I could imagine looking through my eyes into the “dream world”. Gazing at the back of my eyelids, I thought about looking “through my eyes”. After about a minute I tried again and this time with momentary success(?)… it was like I was looking through a “ripp” in the blackness and saw a man looking through it. He was very realistic, and I tried to control the image but it faded away very quickly.

By intention, do you mean you thought “i’m going to open my hand” and it opened, or do you mean thinking about opening a physical hand? I can’t imagine there’s any risk in trying to move physically, it’s probably much easier than moving mentally, and SP should keep anything bad from happening.

i’m scared of escalators…
bad experiences.

it sounds like you might not even be dreaming. just like, daydreaming right before you go to bed. Whenever im in a lucid dream and i never feel any connection what so ever between me and my physical body laying down in my bed. im not at all thinking “right now i am actually laying down in my bed” its more like " everything around me is just a dream and i have control. So I of course can just move normally because at he time, my dream body IS my body. I guess i dont really have advice, just saying maybe your not deep enough in a dream.

If you’d checked the topic’s date you’d noticed that it’s from 2006…
But now that it’s on anyway:
I experienced something similiar in my first LD. I was standing in my bedroom trying to do a RC but I couldn’t move my arm. I relaxed and tried again, this time it worked, but then my hand would only go right through me, like a ghost hand so I couldn’t grab my nose and do a RC (Which actually worked as a RC )
