Would you still be able to make yourself lucid when you first go to bed at night?
If you use WILD as your preferred techniques, I’d imagine it’d be easier.
Although, for the best chances to gain lucidity, go for WBTB.
I think you can, it depends on your will…
I’ve had one LD (out of 20-something) that occurred in my first REM period. I woke up about 1 hour after I had first gone to bed with a brand new LD in my memory.
It might be worth to mention (I don’t know if that made a difference or not, it may have) that I had drank alcohol some time before going to bed, and I was sleeping on pillows on the floor, because I was sleeping over at a friends house. However, it could just as easily have been a coincidence, and might not have had anything to do with the LD itself.
But as Sureal said, go for WBTB, it increases your chances a lot.
It’s really different for each person. Just like techniques, each person will find a technique that works best for them but may differ to what works best for the next poster.
For me I find when I am that tired I don’t have any recall, so technique doesn’t matter to me as lucid or not I have no memory of it.
The best thing to do is to try it and see how it goes.
