first post!
excuse me if this is in the wrong place too.
i’m wondering if i had a fake lucid dream. i suddenly pop into a dream where i was in the middle of realizing that i was dreaming. nothing prior. i don’t think i RCed or anything. i just … realized i was dreaming. i don’t think i even thought about LDing before i went to bed. so i realize i’m dreaming, and i shout “increase lucidity” but i don’t realize notice any difference. so i just keep shouting it over and over (i think about 3 times, in rapid succession). at this point i don’t think i was controlling what i was doing.
could it be that i was dreaming about having a lucid dream? if so what a horribly missed opportunity. or is it that i had a lucid dream but it quickly went back into a normal dream?
i will say though that when i realized i was dreaming things were a little more “real”, so to speak, than most dreams i have.
gotcha. i’m just thinking that this will give me a boost in confidence, because i’m thinking that i’m close now to having a real LD, and i know i can do it.
nah i think you had a lucid dream but whernt 100% aware eg in the morning i know where the alarm clock is but i dont remember i have to get up for collage
i have had an experiance when i was talking about lucid dreams to students and i was a tutor. ive also had a lucid dream much simaler to what you speak of right now i was sitting in a cinima when some celerbratys came in i knew i must be dreaming except i was then paralized!!! if i had been 100% aware i would of shouted unparalize now but to late dream over
Definitely a lucid dream, as those words right there are the definition of a lucid dream. As long as you are aware you’re dreaming you are having a lucid dream. It just sounds like you had one without a whole lot of dream control; lucidity doesn’t have anything to do with amount of control, you can have LD’s with no control and then turn around and have normal dreams where you exhibit incredible control.
No, this was an FLD because a real LD you control the dream more or less. If you only realise that you dream its an FLD, but FLD can also be a dream that you unconsciusly do some LD-like things. A real LD has both these things.
The definition of a lucid dream depends on the consciousness, not the control. It is a lucid dream as long as you know it is a dream Dream control is a skill that can be trained, but many times it can also be fun to enjoy what the lucid dream shows us!
GHOSTIE, the definition of a LD as given on the LD4all site is Lucid Dream - A dream where you “wake-up” within the dream and you realize your surroundings are a dream.
Ghostie, have you read the same definitions of lucid dream as the rest of us? A lucid dream is a dream where you know you are dreaming, plain and simple. It takes nothing more than that. If you for example read the definition from wikipedia, even that says that you can OFTEN manipulate your environment. It isn’t required.
Yes, the accepted definition of a lucid dream, both around here and in the scientific community is that the dreamer is conscious of the fact he is dreaming. Whether or not you have control is a different factor altogether and often has to do with how lucid you are. A FLD is where you act lucid, i.e a high level of control, doing the dream things you intended to etc. What makes a false LD, false, is that you do not realize your dreaming.
Some examples of acting like an lD without realizing it would be: doing intended LD activities i.e. you had planned to go flying and visit China; you would then go and do the same thing in the FLD much like you would have if lucid. A FLD often includes other lucid dream type traits such as lots of dream control, almost an awareness that you can do “magical”/dream things etc.
