False awakening

Hey y’all! I just had my second lucid dream… but it kinda sucked haha, here’s what happened… i’ll try to keep it brief;

I’ve been trying to WILD for about a week and I think I’ve finally managed to do it, but I’m not exactly sure if I did it on purpose or by accident. I was taking a nap and I woke up but… I wasn’t exactly fully awakened, it felt like every single exhale I took I was lifting out of my body and it sounded like waves crashing or i guess white noise. I decided to open my eyes and I found myself flying around my bedroom only to crash right into my bed. I thought I was awake but when I looked in the mirror my hair was wet so I knew I was in a dream, it was exactly like the first lucid dream I had, my house was wavy and this time green instead of orange lol. Anyway, I decided to change the scene to me getting into a car and while i managed to change the dream scenario, i wasn’t really in control of it for some reason ( anyone have any tips about that? ) So then I woke up… at least I thought I did, this time it was raining and my tv that i haven’t used for years was on but I accepted and thought I was awake. So I awoke for a third time, except this time I was back into waking life and my head felt numb… like really tingly. It was a great experience though :smile:

I was just wondering how to stop false awakenings and control lucidity better, i haven’t come across too much about false awakenings. thanks!

Interesting story! And I can imagine it was a great experience.

I’m not an “advanced dreamer” yet, so I don’t know if I could be of any help. I wouldn’t know how to stop FA, but I would recommend to do a reality check, everytime you wake up. If you have a FA, it looks like you’ve really woken up, but still it feels different if you really wake up. Still, try to do a reality check everytime you wake up. If it’s a FA and you do a reality check, it might turn into a LD! :smile:

Good luck!

Yeah, it’s tough reminding myself to constantly do RC’s, but I guess with any other habit it becomes second nature after the course of 21 days or so. :smile:

False awakenings can be pretty fun, but I also understand that most people find them to be annoying. They do serve has a good staging ground for LD’s.

I am not sure how to stop a false awakening other than completely waking up from it. Might try to develope a technique that will work 95% to recall yourself out of a dreamstate. That way when you have the first FA you can use the technique and get completely out.

As for controling lucidity, I would suggest remaining calm, taking small steps at first, and don’t try to do anything super exciting your first few times. Once you’re used to how your mind operates within the LD things should come easier over time.

gl out there :smile:
