False-Awakenings

I’ve known about Lucid Dreaming for a few weeks now and have been more interested in my dreams. Last night I set my alarm to go off roughly 6 1/2 hours after I’d fall asleep. When it woke me I was rather dissapointed at not remembering a thing about what I was just dreaming, at this point it took me quite a long time to get to sleep.

When I finally dosed off, I don’t really know what happened but it felt like I woke up again. I heard that false awakenings normally occur after lucid dreaming but I didn’t know if they didn’t happen all the time, I made sure to do a RC anyway.

I go over to my wall to see if I could stick my hand through it but instead the wall begun to bend like it was made of rubber, I was so astonished I felt this rush going all through my body and I woke up. (I performed another RC and I was awake this time).

I had 3 of these False awakenings that night and on the 3rd one I even attempted to fly and I managed to float up the tree-tops then drift back down. I loved it.

I would like to know if it is uncommon to have more then 1 false-awakening in a night?

Hi maskd.

That’s not uncommon, sometimes you can have bunches of FA’s in a row. Also, they dont nececcarily have to happen after a LD. And by the way, how can you have a FA and do a RC which proves you are awake? If this happens, you need to try other or more RC’s next time. I also wonder, did you realize you were in a dream after any of the FA’s?

Well inbetween the first and second FA’s I woke up for real, I looked at my dream diary, turned away and looked back and it was the same, I also looked at my clock and it was showing the real time, I also tested my lamp and it turned on, I figured I was awake after all these things happening. I RC’d every time I thought I had awoken.

After the third FA I fell into a deep sleep and don’t recall any dreams occuring when I woke up 5 hours later.

 may I recommend the nose test: plug you nose shut and try to breathe through it; if you can, then you are dreaming. Very rarely did it fail for me. When I first became interested in lucid dreaming I had a LOT of false awakenings. I even tried to WILD in some of them, not knowing that I was dreaming. I also had many nested false awakenings  yeah, they are pretty cool. Do a RC everytime you wake up(or think that you woke up). Sometimes FAs happen after LDs, like you wake up and tell someone about your LD.

Yeah, my lucid dreams always ends in a false awakening. From now on I’ll start doing a rc every time I wake up, that should help.
