I have a great problem when acting out my lucid dreams. I had a very long and intriquate one last night, trying to use powers of different sorts with more or less effect. My biggest problem is fear of that nothing will happen. How should I overcome this? I have tried saying “it will work, it will work” but it won’t… I have tried saying “it’s a dream, everything can be done…” but neither does that work. Can you give me some tips on how to accomplish these things, such as flying? Do I need better imagination? When I become lucid, what should I tell / do to myself in order for me to act them out better?
Try it until you make it, even if you fail, whats there to fear? Remember how many times people how failed doing WILD, i have maby failed 20 times, but i still try, and i had one last night You should try not caring so much if it doesn’t work right away, just believe you can do it, but don’t believe in it too much, cause then you will only over-work it, so just try out different methods, and you will make it i know you will
So you basicly mean… building up your confidence from bottom to top? Trying the simplest things of flying and then going up to the top, knowing you can do it since you tried other methods?
[color=darkblue]I don’t understand why you would fear failing in the use of powers in an LD? You need to get away from this fear. Whenever it is present, you are likely to fail. You have to ask yourself why you fear such things in LD.
I had a lot of flying ND’s before I tried in LD. It can actually be harder to fly in LD’s than ND’s. In LD’s, it often feels a lot like I’m swimming through the air as a pose to flying.
I’d also suggest reading a lot of people’s flying dreams, because dreams have a very specific way of coming together. The more you read about other people’s experiences, the more likely this is to be incorperated into your ND’s. Once you recall a lot of flying dreams- try flying in LD. You should find it a lot easier.
As for other powers- I myself am not the best person to talk too. I did manage a bit of fire manipulation and I have changed into a girl once but these tend to be very hit and miss!
You have a very common problem that many people, including myself, had. I personally found one solution to this problem. You need to create something which WILL give you the power. Think of something that represents power and use that to do WHATEVER in your LD.
When I first started to LD, I had NO control. What I did to finally regain control was create and object which had personal meaning through experience and symbolism which gave me the power. I simply reached down in my pocket whenever I became lucid, pulled out a magic wand, and used that to do whatever. Because I associate a magic wand to having great mysterical power, I was able to control everything in my dream by using this object as a means of power. You too should also think about using a magical item like a wand to control your dreams because your subconscience has equated a wand to have powerful mystical magic and will obey it.
Try it and tell me how it goes, it did wonders for me.
think about dreams as the creation of your mind. When you are lucid, your mind can consciously change what happens in the dream
imagine the dream power working while you are awake. Visualize what will happen. Repeat this nightly. Especially when you wake up from a dream.
find the dream power that is easy to you, repeat it in lucid dreams. Then realize that any dream power is equally possible. All dream powers are simply the mind controlling the dream
I like asclepius’ tip about focusing on a positive outcome, when I play a sport (golf usually) I don’t get ready to hit and expect to hit a wicked slice into the trees, but rather I see the shot I want to hit landing in the fairway, positive thinking yields positive results.
Also if you want an excersie try the dream television. Imagine or find a high def televsion with controls for volume, brightness
color saturation etc. and play around with them. It gets your focus of dream control directly and allows indirect control, as you gte more comfortable try without the television.
Hi i am new to the board so hi there wave my friend who knows alot about lucid dreams more than i do about brain function ect told me his borther does it,as do i. but at the time i’d never heard of it, it was just something i’d do in dreams at that point i’d never have taken flight and it he said his brother found it quite hard to do so he needed proof in his dream that he could do it. so later on in the weeks to some the next lucid dream i had summond a solid cube of metal and punched it. My arm went in to it so i got the confidence to fly almost stright away. i told my firend about this who passed it on to his brother.
i think its easier to start with a thing you can touch and manipulate as air is strange thing to work with from scratch, also you may want to break something to give you an invincible feeling as flying can lead to hitting stuff, like the ground for example.
also his brother got back to me with a good way of stopping the falling sensation that may wake to up, hold your arms out in a T shape and point your feet to the ground. you should practice this as soon as you get good at flying as its more fustrating waking up from crash landing seen as you been doing something as cool as flying.
