Last night I tried WILD i stayed awake for 3 and a half hours trying to keep awake and I wasn’t getting tired. I didn’t even go in to sleep paralysis or HI. I just kept awake and couldent go to sleep, then I decided to go to sleep and i just fell asleep. I am to aware when i WILD and cant seem to go to sleep ‘awake’. I just lay in bed for hours on end not getting tired even tho my eyes are closed!!!
HELP!
did you try to wild right from when you went to bed?
anyway, i think NO WILD is worth staying awake for 3:30 hours for… for me, it’s a couple of minutes max, and if nothing happens, i just go to sleep. last thing i want to give myself is insomnia.
i think you are keeping yourself too aware, sitting there waiting for wierd vibrations and stuff… the waiting is very harmful to the process… you have to let go of your awarness for a little bit… it’s kinda like meditation. anyway i dont expect you to fully understand it without actually experiencing it. i know i havent understood it before it happened to me. just keep trying, but use other techniques like MILD alongside it, so just your efforts wont go in vain. good luck
Your approach is too ‘active’, in my opinion. It shouldn’t be about ‘waiting’, certainly not that long - I’ve made 40 minute attempts in the past, but I wouldn’t do that again. Let alone three and a half hours!
Persistance in that sense isn’t the way to go about it. If you aren’t in a lucid dream within a few minutes, you’re going about this the wrong way.
The best time to do it is in the middle of the night after several hours of sleep. You’ll be less inclined to concentrate and more inclined to sleep, which is exactly the point. Close your eyes and relax, and maintain only a minimal state of awareness. A break in awareness will most likely to cause you to fall asleep on plenty of occasions, but sometimes you will reach the onset of sleep paralysis etc. before that happens. When that has happened at least once, you will understand WILD a lot better.
I believe that the catchphrase when it comes to WILD should be “Let it come to you”. Too active an approach is purely counterproductive, and it not only renders WILD impossible but sleep as well!
It would be helpful if you try it when you are tired. This way, your brain will want to sleep while u keep your focus. For example, i am now going to sleep after 20 hours of being . This i what im talking about [/color]
it helps when you are tired, but your brain needs to rest. So in my opinion it is better to pair wild with wbtb, so that you don’t disturb the brain’s pattern.
i think a few things things:
1: you’re trying too hard
2: you should not try to stay awake but you sould keep your mind awake(EX by counting your breaths)
3: don’t look at the time, it’ll keep you awake
Like sirius)(black said, the point is to not stay awake! If you want to have a lucid dream, you’ll have to fall asleep first. The trick is to let your body relax and fall asleep, whilst keeping your mind conscious.
I’m a natural WILDer myself - I can’t induce it at will, but I quickly get sleep paralysis and HI if I’m tired enough.
Recently I tried to induce a WILD from the start of going to sleep, but it didn’t work. That’s because in the first sleep stage, it takes the longest time to get to the REM stage. During the night the sleep cycles change and there is gradually less deep sleep and more REM sleep in every consecutive cycle. So waking up after a few hours of sleep, and thén trying to WILD, will work a lot better for you.
